I last visited Takaoka in October of 2009. The food and show was great. Before this trip, the last time I visited was a few times in 1992-1994. My experiences from then were the standard that I use to judge all other teppanyaki/hibatchi restaurants. I have visited places from Seattle, WA to Biloxi, MS to Norfolk, VA and none of them have teppanyaki restaurants that can match Takaoka. Not even Teppan Edo at Epcot can't hold a candle to Takaoka. My return visit in October justified my faith and memory. I recommend this restaurant to any who like Teppanyaki/Hibatchi style cooking.

We visited Takaoka restaurant last week with another couple for a birthday dinner. We were very disappointed in how fast they try to move you through, with bringing out everything with hardly any time to eat between courses, and prepare for the next group. We went to the bar, to try to get an after dinner drink as you could tell they wanted us to leave the dinner table, and the people at the bar were very unfreindly and acted as if we were imposing on them. We finally said "forget it" and we left the restaurant. It will be quite some time or maybe never that we go back again. With the cost of the meals, you would think they could let you enjoy yourself and not feel like you have to hurry to finish.

LOVE LOVE LOVE. It is an amazing experience. My children thought it was Awesome to watch the chef cook in front of you and the neat tricks they did while cooking. We love to visit when we go home. It is a bit expensive, but the food is Great.

You HAVE to go to this restaurant if you're ever visiting Fort Wayne. The food is great, the staff is wonderful and the show is really fun to watch. Plus, tables are in a "U" shape and you get other people put at your table if your party doesn't fill up the table, so you get to meet new people. SO much fun!

No Shushi??!! No Problem.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/24/06
I was just treated to Takaoka this past weekend by my girlfriend and her family. I have to say it was really good. It's a Japanese Steak House where they cook in front of you. Always a treat to see someone else making the food for a change. The people were very nice, the service was great and if you really want to feel in go with her parents in Fort Wayne because they know everyone:) The only draw back was the number of times I heard the birthday song. It may have been a fluke that day and there just happened to be a large number of birthdays but it got a little anoying. Other than that great, great, great!! Can't wait to go again. Hint! Hint!
