LA Esperanza, South Bend

Great food and great service! I love authentic mexican food and this place nails it :) I get tired of the food chain type dining and am always looking for some place that steers clear of average. It's become one of my favorites and my go to for Mexican dining.

Our first time there, using a restaurant.com coupon! Very happy with the food and service was A1! I had the Burrito Especiale, and can honestly say that this was the BEST burrito I have ever had! Took some home and reheated it for lunch the next day, and it was even better, if that is possible.

Great service! the food is amazing as well! I highly recommend it if you want authentic Mexican food.

First of all the service is excellent and the staff is out going and extremely nice. Then there is the food, which is incredible. Probably the best in the area (although the westside has some great little places) and the chips and salsa are amazing. If you haven't been, try it. It's fantastic.

This is our FAVORITE Mexican restaurant! We won't go anywhere else! Our 2 year old son really loves it also. Afforable, friendly, quality, and fast service. We've never had to wait long for our food! La Esperanza is a MUST try!!!!!

My husband and I have been going to LaEsperanza for more than 10 years... The owners, family members, and staff who work there are warm and friendly and make a point of greeting us personally with a warm handshake every time we go. The food is the bestMexican food of ANYWHERE I have ever been!!! There chips and salsa rock especiallyif you like hot and spicy! We take our family and friends there as often as we can and they have never been dissappointed...

We have been to La Esperanza many times and have never had a bad meal. Everyone is pleasant and the food is out of this world. Beats Hacienda hands down!!

Affordable, excellent Mexican food (though I think it's technically Guatemalan -- Mexicans don't use that many olives, I don't think). Have not found a more satisfactory or authentic "Mexican" restaurant in South Bend. Margaritas are tasty, staff is excellent, and the burritos and enchiladas can't be beaten!

GREAT, authentic Mexican food, great prices, and prompt and polite service. Our family has been coming back again and again for several years now, and there is no better restaurant around. Simply blows Hacienda or anyplace else out of the water.

Having had more than my share of authentic mexican food I found this place to be quite enjoyable. Great relaxing atmosphere and the food was excellent! This is the kind of place where you are not supposed to be in a hurry unlike that of the post from NDfan. Being an amatuer chef I have also read up on authentic mexican cooking, the dishes vary from region to region in Mexico, and recipes will differ in each restaurant as well.
