Was in the area for the weekend for a wedding and decided to go there for lunch. Thai lettuce wraps were okay, nothing special, and the soup of the day, Irish potato cheese soup, was served luke warm. Well, what can I expect when it says “Pub & Grub” in the name of the place?
We went back for drinks and dancing after attending the wedding. Drinks were good and a little pricey for the area, but no complaints. Our server was very friendly and attentive.
Now here’s where they lost mega points, their website states, “After 10pm we get the party started with our electrifying state of the art sound system and lighting systems.” Well, I guess it may be state of the art for Chesterton Indiana, but 4 JBL eon speakers and a dual 18” JBL subwoofer on the corner of the dance floor doesn’t quality as “state of the art” in my opinion (The church that the wedding was held at, I think it was St. Paul’s in Valparaiso, had a much better sound system… although very much overkill for a church.) Well, the worst part about it was that the DJ had the treble cranked on the system so it was to the point of annoyance… and the bass was starting to audibly distort.
Here’s a little suggestion from a guy who has been designing and building speaker systems since high school…so that the system isn’t pushed to it’s limits, add 2 more jbl main speakers to the dance floor, add another subwoofer, and eq the system properly to the rooms acoustics…. and lock the eq cabinet so the dj can’t access it and mess things up. Just my 2 cents.
