Country Kitchen, Indianapolis

I have being going to this place since I was a kid, and still can't get enough. Keep doing whatever it is you guys do. I love Country Kitchen, its the best place smokin.

Im from harlem NY, so im used to SylVia's and Amy Ruths, but since i moved out here they are the only place that takes me back home.

I'd heard so much about this place but never went. Well I finally went a couple of days ago with the office temp Patricia..hey girl lol... and I am hooked. It is literally a hole in the wall but the food is so freakin' good. I've had their smothered pork chops, and today I had the meat loaf mm mm mm. The portions are generous trust me you won't be able to finish it one sitting, but if you can sheeeeit it's all good. If you like soul food and you're in the area, you MUST go the Country Kitchen..bon appetit.

I am from Saint Louis and i went to Indy in 2005 for their Circle City Classic. I went to Country Kitchen for the first time. It was the best. I am counting down the time now for my next trip to the Circle City Classic this year in Oct 2006. My first stop will be the Country Kitchen. I cant wait to eat there again

What i like about Country Kitchen is that there is some much food to choose from every day. It's just like at grandma' s house and it is very southern. Their lemonade is so delicious and so is the mixxxxxed greens, fried pork chops(but not so big), meatloaf, corn bread patties and mac and cheese.

Simple and to the point. I'm from the country and had soul food and love every portion of it. But Country Kitchen would benefit from a lil' more time in the COUNTRY (DOWN SOUTH) to get more acquainted with how to do the SOUL food. (collard greens, fried chicken, yams (sweet potatoes), macroni cheese, hot tamales.

I love soul food. I grew up eating some of the best soul food ever so maybe my expectations are high, but I have to disagree with a lot of the stuff people say about The Country Kitchen... It's just not that great. I guess I prefer the smaller, mom and pop, homey setting.

I love soul food. I love soul food from Country Kitchen. The Chicken and Dressing and Macaroni & Cheese are my favorite. The Lemonade is so good, makes me think of my Grannie's lemonade served in the old school mason jars! No one should ever leave Indy without visiting this place!
