Great service and everything is off the charts. The only downside is a selective menu, but that is whats happens when the only serve fresh seafood.

Great oysters. Outstanding atmosphere. However, if you want better a prepared seafood enttees, your local Bonefish is superior.

If you like seafood fresh, this is the place!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/11/09
I travel to Indy a few times a year. When I am here, I select restaurants to visit that I can't find elsewhere or are of five star ratings. The Oceanaire is my choice for seafood in Indianapolis. Service is impeccable, the seafood is always fresh. When I ask information about how a item is prepared, the waiter is well informed and provides insight into Oceanaire's success.I recommend lunch for those on a budget. The prices are right and no need for a reservation.

Wide variety of fresh seafood, changing daily, with imaginative preparations never fail to please. Last night: tuna tartare for appetizer and monkfish with creamy parmesan polenta as main course. Urbane atmosphere with friendly, efficient and knowledgeable waiters make your evening special every time. Simply one of the best seafood restaurants I've been to anywhere in the US. Its worth paying the extra price over other seafood options in Indy.

We drive 2 1/2 hours to go to Indy about 4 times a year. We always eat at the Oceanaire. We never come to town without a reservation for dinner one night here. The service, the food all 5 stars every time. We have tried all the big name places downtown and this one and the Skyline Club are both don't miss.

Oceanaire is, without a doubt, the best seafood place in Indy. Ryan Nelson is an excellent chef and his seafood is always the freshest. Portions are large, making it feel like the Ruth's Chris of seafood places. Because portions are large, we are as likely to sit at the oyster bar and enjoy oysters, appetizers and wine. The crabcakes are the best for miles around. Couple the excellent seafood, an elegant dining room and an expense account.

5 Star Restaurant
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/15/08
This restaurant is Amazing. It is the heart of downtown Indianapolis, so it provides a great, fun and central location, and the food is incredible. Their menu is so diverse and is filled with the freshest seafood you can imagine. You can have any fish prepared any way that you like, as well as select from a wide variety of their specialty meals. The meals vary widely in prices, but overall are a little on the high end. However, it is completely worth it. The staff is so friendly and accommodating that you will not soon forget your experience here! It is a little on the pricey side, but you will not regret spending an evening here!

I'm going to start off by saying something nice about this restaurant, the decor was very nice. There are two words that best describes their food, BLAND and EXPIENSIVE! There were four people in my party so we ordered several different things and shared them. The crab cake at Oceanaire was mostly breading, and tasted so bad I couldn't eat it. We also had, lake trout and again too much breading on top bland and not a very good flavor. We also had a seafood tray with oysters, mussels, shrimp, lobster, and crab legs. Again really not very good; the shrimp had no flavor, and no melted butter for the lobster. I used a lot of salt and the Old Bay they had on the table to try to get some taste, what I really could have used was some Tony Chachere's and tobasco. My advise is save your money and go to New Orleans.
