This isn't real Italian food. It taste like something you can get from Fazoli's. First of all anyone that has tasted real Italian food (not the Italian food from AMERICAN Italians, real boot country Italian) would know that this is equivalent to Taco Bell claiming to be Mexican food. When I walked in and saw a bunch of Americans in the kitchen area I knew I was in for some wannabe BS!! Then in the hallway were 20 kids (not including the party of children already seated) standing everywhere blocking the walkway and the parents or chaperones were just letting them stand in the way. The atmosphere was like being at a Chuck E Cheese's birthday party, unruly children everywhere, screaming, shouting, arguing, and horsing around. Now we ordered a big meatball and the chicken carbonara. Now I will admit the servings were fricken huge but quantity can't always substitute quality. The carbonara was dry as a bone, so I ordered extra alfredo sauce thinking it would cheeze it up. Instead I got just a big bowl of watered down alfredo sauce. I had to add damn near the whole jar of parmesan cheeze to thicken it up and make it rich and cheezy. The meatball was ok but the whole meal lacked real authentic Italian spices. It taste like some stuff you get at a school cafeteria. On top of all this, the prices were a tad bit high for what they were offering. Bottom line, well I guess if you are someone who has never left Indiana or been to a real Italian family owned restaurant then this place will work for you. Real foreign food enthusiast should stay the heck away from this place. Its a slap in the face to authentic Italian culture, almost to the point of being stereotypical and racist. Want real, Italian food made by a REAL Italian go to Matteo's in Noblesville or go to Maggiano's, which is about as close to real Italian food as you can get, at least the chefs are Italian there.

our group of about 20 has a standing reservation for the pope's room (big circular table with a lazy susan) every year...the night before the indianapolis 500...may 2010 was something like our 10th year. in fairness, yes, you might find a better meal somewhere at a 'family restaurant.' that being said, this is still a very fun and satisfying dining experience. while obviously there's some variation from dish to dish...overall, and especially considering buca is a 'mass-production' restaurant...they do a GREAT job. service has always been excellent. we find their 'baked pasta' (eggplant parm, ravioil, mannicotti) dishes to be supurb... also, the lemon chicken...and...no kidding now...the pizza...it's from another universe, totally fantastic. i do the ordering for our 'family,' and get several reminders, "make sure you get the pizza!!!" remember why people patronize franchises... dependable consistency... this buca sure has that... so...in 2011 when our group comes "back home again to indiana," we can once again be found, on race eve, at buca on illinois street, downtown indy.

Family restaurant
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/9/08
The food at Buca Di Beppo is really tasty, however, the service is not great compared to other italian restaurants. Drink refills take unusually long. Also, the walls actually make the restaurant look like a bathroom. I have heard that they have a table in the kitchen where you can eat, and that experience is amazing. If you are looking for good tasting food to eat with family or friends, then this is the place to go. However, it is not an upscale italian restaurant.

My sister and I went for lunch at Buca Di Beppo. The waitress was wonderful and all the the staff were so friendly. The lasagna was very good. I hope to bring the whole family soon. (8/14/08)

Poor service. We waited 45 minutes for our manicotti and this was after the lunch rush. Caesar salad was too fishy and I am pretty sure they used Kraft grated paremesan. The manicotti was disgustingly dry (both the shell and the cheese).
