Casa Nueva, Athens

Great Loco-Vore food. Reasonably priced. I'm a long-time Athens resident, and have been going to the Casa for twenty years. If you are looking for good service, just don't bother. They obviously do NO training. But the food is fresh and reasonably priced, and in the off-season, with OU not in session, it's a good place to eat. Just be aware that if you are used to professionalism and good service, you will be disappointed.

My favorite place to eat in Athens! Dining at Casa Nueva is a unique dining experience. The food is locally grown, you will be greeted by multiple servers, and you will be adorned with local artist's work on the walls. Casa brings in an eclectic crowd and not only is a great place to dine, but also an ideal place to get a gig for your band. Casa is a friendly dining place during the day and then transitions to a hot party spot at night. Be prepared to pay a cover charge most nights, but don't let this keep you from trying their margaritas. Best in town!

We've loved Casa forever (since old Casa que Pasa days). Great low-key atmoshphere, fantastic salsas, locally grown food, lots of vegetarian options. Hang out in the Cantina and sit by the window with a beer and casa quesadillas. Well worth the (mostly) poor service!

Casa is by far the best Mexican restaurant/bar in Athens. Their menu is seasonal and they rely on input from the workers, as well as customers. This bar/restaurant is worker owned as well, making it completely unique to the commercial Athens scene. Because it is NOT traditional, one cannot expect typical service like any other restaurant, but the food, value and ambiance of this restaurant by far outweighs any service issues that you might have. Casa harkens back to a time when people actually had time to sit down, relax and enjoy a well prepared meal, with great friends and best of all, a friendly staff who welcome you as soon as you walk in the door. Drink specials run rampant, making the Casa Cantina one of the most reasonable bars in Athens as well. Casa also hosts a variety of community events, so you would be hardpressed to go to Casa and not enjoy yourself, whether it be with the well prepared food or with a night of dancing with friends.
