Shanghai Mama's is a decent Chinese restaurant featuring many classics we all know and mostly enjoy. The food is usually decent, well prepared, and best of all: AFFORDABLE!! Usually, the manager/cashier (George) is always well mannered and willing to accommodate for a large or small party. However, there is a reason I did not give this great establishment a full 5-star rating...the staff. The staff, (with the exception of the manager, and a friendly man who greets you at the door), act like mechanical servants. They never look happy, and you most likely won't receive a "hi" or even a "you're welcome" when they bring your food. Some people may think this is being "picky"...but being a friendly staff member helps business increase! (Not to mention, better tips!!!) To sum it up: The food is great...just mind the grease. The staff is not so great on manners. ~ The PCF (Picky Cheap Foodie)

Shanghai Mama's is good for friends night out
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/30/09
Late opening, downtown location, spiffy decor that isn't just your regular touristy Chinese/Asian stuff. Bring some friends so you can share and sample. I was tempted to buy one of their cute "shut up and eat your noodles" teeshirts that they have for sale in the restaurant but my husband threatened to disown me.

Recommended by police officers. It was excellent. Did not expect this at all. Will definitely go back as the food was so fresh and the service was excellent. Great drinks.

Best Spring Roll in Cincinnati
By Annabeth, 5/9/07
I am a very picky eater, but Shanghai mama's is so amazing every time. I consider this restaurant to have the best spring rolls in all of Cincinnati. Really the best I have ever eaten. The prices are good, the portions are big and they even have vegetarian and vegan options. OHHHHHH the buddah bowl could be the best vegan dish in Cincinnati. Can you tell I love this place. Only bad thing is they close at 9 M-Th and they are not open on Sunday. BUT to make up for it, they are open until 4 am on Friday and Saturday. Enjoy.

Just like Mama's homemade cooking
By Courtney S, 2/18/07
The food was so good, and very well priced. I had the plain flatbread which was $3 for an appitizer and SO incredible, and veggie sping rolls which was also $3 and very very very good, definitly homemade and hand rolled just for you. After I finished my house plum wine (so sweet and tasty!) I was full, but for the main course I order the veggie faux ribs in orange sauce and it was AMAZING. Even my non vegetarian friend tried mine and ordered an order of it to go! All entress are under $9 and they give you HUGE portions, I took atleast 4 ribs home and a HUGE portion of noodles. Great spot and I hear they are open till 4am on weekends which is rare for downtown cincinnati...

Will Never Eat Another Noodle
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/15/07
This place was great all around. Reasonably priced, excellent food, excellent environment and fine service. My new favorite restaurant. The food appeared almost immediately after is was ordered and it was steaming. The portions are huge (enough for two meals) and priced so well. A little cramped at tables, but all just part of the ambience.

Nice Atmosphere, Nice People, Tasty Food
By Jack, 2/3/07
This restaurant is in the downtown area on 6th street of Cincinnati and I like to support the local restaurants and bussinesses there. The atmosphere is really nice--dim, and with great soft, older generation muusic. The wait staff was very friendly and prompt. The portion was large and good of Chicken Low Mein and the spring rolls flavor was great. I would recommend this restaurant very much!!!
