Red Gable Mesquite Grill, Sandusky

My wife and I went there for our 25th Anniversary. We had never been there before, but heard good comments about it. Awesome food and excellent service. We were the only 2 people in there, so I was able to tease my wife that I paid to rent the place for the evening. LOL. Red Gables is well worth the money!

My wife and I dined here on 6/14/10 for our anniversary. I simply had the best steak I have ever had in my life here. This pricing is what you would expect for a gourmet steakhouse, but the service and the food are simply the best I have ever had. I have dined at steakhouses around the country, and paid much more for a meal than I did here, and never had a steak like this. We started our meal with an appetizer of grilled scallops with a garlic butter sauce, served over a bed of rice. The scallops were cooked perfectly, and the rice was very delicious. I had the thick cut ribeye and it was amazing. My Wife had the Monte Cristo, which was a filet, topped with a crab cake, topped with hollandaise sauce and asparagus, she loved it. The building has unique character, the ambiance is very pleasnt, and comfortable. We went on a Monday night andt there were only 2 parties there including us. The Chef/Owner greeted us at our table, and even made us a special desert becuase we are on a sugar restrictive diet, and free of charge for our anniversary! What an experience, what food, what service. We will be going back to Red Gable Mesquite Grille.

My wife and I ate at the restaurant on 4-7-10. We both had a New York Strip, which was the juiciest and absolute, best steak we have EVER had. We also had Clam Chowder and it also was the best we ever had. The service was top notch, from the salad to the steak. It was an eating expeirience . I annot wait until we go there again.

My Fiance and I went for our anniversary and the service was great! The food was amazing. We liked the atmosphere and the chef came to our table through out the night to make sure everything was good. I recommend the Monte Cristo. We will be going back again.

My fiance and I went to this restaurant in June of 2009 while we were in town to go to Cedar Point. We nearly missed it but were glad we didn't. The food was excellent and the chef was very friendly and came out several times and personally interacted with us. My fiance ordered a steak and swears that it absolutely is the best steak he's ever eaten. It was a great experience!

I do not think the person from the first review ate at the same place. I was just there in on July 30, 2009 and was one of the best steaks I have ever had. My wife and I were glad we stumbled on this place. The salad, the main dish, and even the desert were fantabulous! WOW. And not to mention that price was really fair for a steak of this greatness. Sure does beat Ruth's Chris' Steakhouse by a million miles. Highly recommended and do not be in hurry, you will be there for minimum of 35 to 40 minutes.

We stumbled into this establishment by accident, boy were we happy we did. It was our four year anniversary and we were the only customers in the place. We were treated like royalty. The food was out of this world. To anyone who complains about the price, well you get what you pay for and this food was well worth the price. The setting was romantic, the chef came out and worked with us on the menu to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. The waitress was very accomodating, I live 45 minutes away but will travel to go to this restaurant again, it was excellent all around. The history behind the building is interesting as well. The owner from way back was affiliated with the mob and Al Capone actually ate at this restaurant. During the renovation of Red Gables there were bullet holes and blood stains found throughout the building.

My family have been going to the Red Gable for ten years. It is always a highlight to our trip to Sandusky ! The Chef is very knowledgeable and dishes are always in season fair.

One of the best bbq rib places i've been to. I love ribs and ribs love me! Would definately come back here again. Highly recommend this establishment to anyone who likes grilled food.
