Angello's Italian California Cuisine offers affordable elegance in one of Stark County's beautiful and historic landmarks. The building was constructed in 1908 by the late Rev. Emil Herbruck, Pastor of Trinity United Church. Except for the balustrade, which was pattern from the poet Henry Longfellow's residence, the structure stands essentially as it was built after the turn of the century. It took ten years for the Canton, Ohio building that houses Angello's restaurant to be renovated. The finished decor has kept alive the relaxed, homey atmosphere with a warm color scheme of mustard and burgundy. Remnants of the past include the original plaster, molded mantle over the living room fireplace, and the Pastor's chair from Rev. Herburck's church. The carved oak rail from St. Anthony's church has been preserved and used to separate individual dining areas.
I can't believe I have never been here before. As a local, I feel I have been missing out. I would highly recommend this restaurant, especially to those that like Luigi's in Akron. My husband and I will be going there for Valentine's Day, and can't wait to try something new.
The freshly homemade bread and their balsamic vinagrette on their side salad of mixed greens were AWESOME!
However when my order of Cajun Chicken Pasta came to the table it looked horrible! it looked like already been chewed slop! The homemade pasta was literally dredged in the cajun flavored alfredo sauce. Very unappetizing.
This place is the best Italian around here...better than Luigi's in Akron. Yes, you are going to wait to get seated, and yes it takes 45 minutes for a large pizza...but who cares about the wait when you get some of the best food you have ever put to your lips!!! Their pizza, bread, pasta...everything is home made and fresh and fabulous!!! A MUST FOR THE FOOD LOVER!!
