We went in on New Years Eve, with no reservation, at 7:30, and got in in 5 minutes! I was impressed. The place looked a little more grungy than I'm used to, but it's a bit cheaper than Sakura's or Bennihana's so you get what you pay for. The food was delicious, and I thought the portion sizes were average, not stupendous, but not disappointing.
Terrible restaurant. Save your money. My wife and I stopped in for dinner recently and we waited 45 minutes (yes, 45) between finishing our soup and salad and someone finally approaching our table to start cooking. The food was not bad, but the portion sizes were comical. I've never been to a hibachi restaurant and not felt stuffed... until I came here. The service was mediocre. I ordered a Coke and was served it in a small glass that you would normally see for breakfast juice. When I asked for a refill, I was told that they did not offer free refills. (I could purchase another shot glass though)
This place is a classic example of what happens when 85% of your business is using 1/2 off passes from an Entertainment Book. You just can't maintain quality when you discount yourself out of business. They no longer serve sushi either because it likely got to be too expensive for them.
Our family loves eating at Otani. The grandkids are entertained by the chef's performance. Everyone really enjoys the food. We have taken people there that have never been there before and they love it. Having the Entertainment Card is a great value to have. We go several times a month.
Probably, this is my favorite restaurant right now. The food is DELICIOUS!!!! The entertainment is good too. This is one of those hibachi restaurants where the chef grills the food right in front of you. It can be pricy. My meal usually costs no less then $16.95. My bill being $25 or more. All meals come with the following: soup, salad, meats, vegetables, rice and dessert. So, in reality, the price is worth it. The only thing that I don't like is that you sometimes have to wait for the table to fill up and have to sit by strangers. Also, the tables can sometimes feel crowded. Other than that, my mouth is salavating right now as I am writing this review. That is how good the food is.
One of the best places to take a date in the Akron area. Great atmosphere, entertainment, and food. If you live in this area and have never been to Otani's, shame on you, because you are definantly missing out.
The BEST Food around but the ONLY problem I can say it the PORTIONS ARE WAYYYY TOOOO SMALL. No punch line...Just fantastic food but KIDS SIZE PORTIONS! Veggies are CHEAP and they ration them out like it is gold. I still go here about once or twice a month...BRING YOUR ENTERTAINMENT CARD to get HALF OFF.
Otani's is one of those fun places where they cook your food on the table, right in front of you. The cooks are tons of fun, cracking jokes and throwing your food high in the air, setting things on fire. Watching the cook is definitely the best part about this place. The food is also very good, though pricey. Better off going for lunch when the prices are cheaper than for dinner. The main downside is that the tables fit 8 people each, so you are forced to sit with strangers. But, it is a fun atmosphere.
