At Austin's, we've been cooking the old fashioned way since 1994. We start with the freshest ingredients we can find, delivered to our kitchen each day of the week. We make everything on our menu from scratch, every day. We grill over hardwood, not gas, the way that it was a long time ago. It may not be the fastest or least expensive way to do business, but for us, it is the only way. We want each meal you enjoy with us to be a memorable and delicious one; so we work hard preparing each dish to order, smoking ribs and brisket, filleting fresh fish, hand cutting steaks, preparing homemade soups daily and baking our fresh breads and desserts. Its a difference you can taste and one we hope you will keep coming back for. At Austin's, everything we do, we do because our customers deserve it. We will always insist on a level of service and quality that helps us deserve you.

An Unpleasant Experience

We were recommended this place for my father's birthday. The area where we were seated was dirty and next to the bathroom, even though there were many other seats where we could have been seated. The food was average and the service was slow. I would not recommend this place to anyone!

I ordered the small sirloin, well done, and the server wanted to disagree on that, he said the steak was a small one, and he thought I should order it medium well... I insisted on having it well done. It arrived on the plate in a nice presentation, and the first few bites were good, until I got further in and found that the entire center portion of the steak was cooked only to medium... the server came by and noticed this and offered to take it back, but I declined, as I do not lilke to send food back to the kitchen. My date ordered the delmonico, after being disappointed that they only serve prime rib on weekends (we were there on a tuesday)... The delmonico was a disappointingly small cut and full of fat that had to be trimmed off. A 12 oz. cut, about 4 oz. was fat. the server, who did a nice job but was clearly embarrassed, sent the manager over, and the manager did not apologize, he only asked if we enjoyed our food, even though it wasn't cooked right. He took $5 off the tab and still did not apologize, he said he likes fat on his steak, and he saw that since I ate most of my steak, kept asking if I enjoyed mine even though it was not cooked right.... Really? And, by the way, the house salad was drowning in dressing, I couldn't finish it even though I wanted to... I would have been willing to give the place a second try, however, with the attitude of the manager, no way will I ever go back there. Even in a good economy a restaurant should do everything possible to keep a customer happy and give a reason to come back... not this place...

My mother wanted to go to a nice restaurant for father’s day, so I made reservations for 4, we arrived at the restaurant on time, things were going fine the waitress came over and took our order, then she brought our drinks and salad. Well we were talking and laughing, when we noticed that no one came back to our table, at this time we were there for an hour and a half after she had brought our drinks and salad. We flagged our waitress down after trying to talk with a manager who never came to our table, we requested another refill and wanted to check on our order, we were told that it was coming up and they had been swamped all day. And it took 15 minutes before we received our drinks. After 2 hours we finally got our food in which all four meals were cold, my mother and I had to send our food back because it was not fully cooked and cold, after 20 minutes more of waiting our food came back but our side dishes were on each others plate, we were just going to swap it at the table and eat it anyway because we were hungry and frustrated at this point, but the waitress snatched both of our plates back and took them back in the kitchen, when we got them back after the third time our food was still cold and under cooked on top of both of the orders not being either ours. At this point my boyfriend and step father barely touched their meals because they were cold and my mom and I never got a chance to eat our food, we were very upset, my mom demanded to talk to a manger as we were getting up putting on our coats, a manger came out the back and opened the front door saying let’s talk about it outside, we said ok, he opened the door for us and instead of him coming out to talk he rudely closed the door behind us and let us out without even talking to us to find out what was going on and why we were so upset. This was the worst father’s day ever for us!

I normally try not to complain and subscribe to the philosophy of if you have one bad experience, while unfortunate, it was an anomaly and give them another chance. One burned , twice cautious, but two bad experiences- Just don’t go back. We like to patronize local businesses and thus the reason we chose Austins in Mayfield Village.(twice) Short and simple- on our first visit (late May 2010) with another couple both my wife and I had the Sir Loin. Her’s was just fine, as were the meals of our friends. Mine was really “tough” and quite frankly very gritty. I didn’t complain as I have come to believe that it goes on deaf ears and no corrections would be forth coming other than “OH WELL”. On our second visit (June 23rd)we upgraded to the Filet for my wife and I ordered and was looking forward to a mouthwatering Prime Delmonico that you didn’t need a butter knife to cut. The server was excellent and was very dedicated to make sure that they were cooked to our liking. They were just as we ordered, medium rare – “pink in the middle”. The filet was very good, unfortunately the Delmonico a HUGH disappointment. Sending it back wasn’t an option but I enjoyed the salad and the great baked potato and packed the meat up to be used in stir fry at a later date. I had some of my wife’s filet. I know that I may not be entitled to ‘wine’ as I have not paid the 5 bucks as the sign on the wall indicates but I really thought that management of this facility should at least be aware. Will we come back ?- Absolutely not for streak, but maybe sometime for your Smokin Ribs as we heard a server tell a group that that is what you are noted for and specialize in. Maybe you should change the name to Austin’s Rib House. Imagine believing the server !!

We go to Austin's frequently,maybe it's because we always have the same server that the experience is good.We do not care for Henry,I can be treated bad anywhere,I don't need to go to Austin's for that.Every time we go we ask for Becky,she is always quick to greet us and takes very good care of us.As for the management you're right they don't care,have you heard the way they speak to those servers?It's not right.But I reccomend if you go back you ask for Becky,she's very pleasant and always smiling.

the food was horribly cold i ordered the crab stuffed fish which tasted HORRIBLE and in every bite there were bones i asked the server if it was normal ( even thought i knew it shouldent be) she asked another waitress then returned said no and went back to cleaning the dishes the plates were dirty food was horrible DO NOT COME HERE!!!!! I am a internet food critic and have never been given this bad of food and i ate stomach on my trip to africa and the cow stomach tasted better

Austin s Smokin Steakhouse

My husband and I sat down at 8:15. The place was not real crowded. Our waitress took 10 minutes to come by our table. Then she took our drink order and disappeared without brining our order to the bar. 10 minutes later she gave our drink order to the bartender and then blamed him for it taking so long to get drinks. At 9:15 we still did not have our food and most of the place was empty. Our waitress hadn t been by our table in 45 minutes. I finally told another waitress that when I ordered I was expecting to eat TONIGHT. At 9:22 we got our food. It had clearly been microwaved on high. Obviously our waitress had never given the order to the chef. My BBQ was so full of grisle that it made me sick. My husband s steak look like it had been nuked.
