JC Wine Cellars, East Springfield

We ve eaten here a few times and always find the food and wine very good. The food is freshly prepared, so there is a wait once you order. The atmosphere is rustic, it s in a converted garage - part of the appeal. However given the menu, the prices and the elegance they are trying to create, I was surprised to find the actual concrete garage floor. Removing some of the gaudy décor, painting the floor to make it appear cobblestone and continuing to play off of the vineyard look would go a long way to bring this restaurant up a level. The service is somewhat lacking – not rude, but definitely not warm and welcoming. They seem more like diner staff than gourmet waitpersons. There’s a nice gift shop with wine baskets and other nice little things, about the same things you’d see in another winery. Just a few minor tweaks and this could be well-worth the money.

We have never had a bad dinner there. Love the Lobster. They let you taste a variety of wines before choosing a bottle. The atmosphere is casual and the service is friendly. Actually going to night for no good reason except we haven t been there for awhile.

I try to go a few times a year (usually for special occasions) and they have always been amazing. The food is fantastic and the service is great. It is always a good day when I hear I am going to JC Wine Cellars.

I have been to JC many times and it is always a wonderful experience and for the amazing food the prices are cheap. I have never had a meal at jc's that i did not love. I personally love the filets but the pastas are amazing as well. Everything is made from scratch that morning including pasta shells so when theyre out they are out. And on mothers day easter and other special holidays they put together a fabulous buffet of food that is all u can eat so they do discourage from ordering from the menu because they put alot of work into this buffet. And they completely make this aware to u when making a reservation on one of these specialty days so u are not blind sided. However, the buffets are so amazing i perfer to go on those days.

We stayed at Whispering Pines Bed & Breakfast on Atwood Lake and they highly recommended having dinner here. We were not disappointed. We got there early before they started serving dinner but they let us taste wine and sit in the dining room for about 15 minutes until they were ready for dinner. I cannot say we received the best service ever but there were friendly and attentive. I was surprised at the casual atmosphere for such a gourmet menu. My husband had one of their daily specials that included 3 courses for $14.95. I had one of their signature pasta dishes. The food was fabulous. We only tasted one wine, a Cabernet, before choosing a bottle to drink with our dinner. We're pretty picky about our wine but this one was good. I felt that the prices on the menu were quite reasonable for what they offered. Don't let some of the bad reviews keep you from trying this restaurant.

We decided to try JC Winecellars for our anniversary dinner date. We called a few hours before arriving and they told us reservations were highly recommended, so made made a reservation. When we arrived, the entire restaurant was empty, except for one large party. We could have had any table in the house, but they gave us a tiny table for 2 in an awkward position against the wall right beside this party of ten. We ordered dinner and a bottle of wine. Several times throughout dinner the waitress came back trying to rush us out and at one point, tried to take our bottle of wine, which wasn't empty. I finally had to tell HER to take her time!! There was no one else in the restaurant and it wasn't even closing time!! The owners were there, talking to the other party, but never acknowledged our presence or asked us how our food was...very unhospitable and unproffessional...they had to go out of there way Not to speak to us. The food was good, the atmosphere unique and rustic, ok for local entrepranuers, but the service and hospitality was uncomfortably strange and downright rude. If they had the best food around, I would never go back. We have eaten in a lot of restaurants all over the country and have never experienced attitude like we did there. Maybe you have to be personal friends with the owners to be treated with hospitality and decency? That was our experience. Someone needs to teach them good business and hospitality manners.
