Located just south of the state border in Ohio, Toledo Zoo has been a staple for families and young ones who are curious of the animals around the world. Lions, Tigers, Giraffes, Elephants, Gorillas, and more are all represented. The park has recently undergone a No Smoking rule, so please leave all your smokeables at home.
Great zoo. We visit at least once a month. Unlike some other zoos, everything is not spread out where you have to walk forever between exhibits. We have had a membership for years and only go for a couple of hours at a time so it never gets boring and you don't kill your feet. That's the way to go. Visit often and you'll see something different all the time, whether it's a new animal, a new exhibit or a new behavior.
One word of caution: There are NO ATM machines inside the zoo. The ONLY ATM is at the entrance, near the ticket counters. Most locations inside the zoo will take your card but some won't. It's really not a big deal but it may become annoying if you don't have cash in your pocket and want to buy a drink or snack from a small snack stand.
It is good and they have done alot for it including the ampitheatre. It is very concert friendly, and they get some good acts in there. I always enjoyed the zoo and the only thing that I can say negative is that too bad that the tunnel isn't still open under the trail because that was always fun as a kid, and my neices and nephews would enjoy it now as much as we did back then.
I am from Toledo and now live in New York. Toledo is a small city and therefore do not have a massive zoo. However, The Toledo Zoo is very
family friendly, with something for everyone. Toledo has come a long way to have such a great zoo. With every passing year new, and unique things are added. It is a wonderful zoo and a Toledo is a great place to grow up.
I miss Ohio. Go Buckeyes!
I grew up in Toledo but moved to Texas in 1982. I have great memories of the zoo from school field trips or with family and I am sure when I visit again it will be even better than when I was a kid.
The Toledo Zoo is a fabulous zoo - easy to get to - easy to navigate and the selection of animals is quite impressive. The hippoquarium is amazing - as is the polar bear exhibit. You will not be disappointed. It is reasonably priced and it is clean and well kept as well as being very modern and historic at the same time. It is a jewel in Toledo's crown.
I live in Toledo. It is really a great zoo. We have added so many new things over the past 10 years. its really amazing. For those of you who haven't been here to see it, please come it is well worth the trip.
