Thurman Cafe Incorporated, Columbus

I went to Thurmans last year, and will never go back again. Im not a hard person to satisfy, actually I think i'm pretty easy to please. I thought the place was really neat going into it. It's def. a hole in the wall kind of place, which makes it special. But after waiting what seemed like forever, which was not all that bad to me, we were seated and greeted, and then tortured the whole time by the absolute worth waitress ive ever encountered in my life. she was a plain out B*tch. The food was good, but it wasnt worth putting up with her rude attitude, dirty looks and ignorant tounge. The place had nasty cobb webb things filled with dust bags and nasty thick piles of grease every where, def. not clean. and we sat by the freezer, which they left open freezing us to death and everytime we asked them to shut it they ignored us. WORST experience ive ever had period.

First off, be prepared for a wait. Thurman's is more like a bar that a restaurant meaning that it has few tables and no receptionist. You write your name on a list and wait for a table to open up in a room that's half the size of the whole place (to give you an idea of how many people usually wait there). I'm sure you're thinking that's a poor business model but it's part of the show. Your burger, no matter which you get, will be next to impossible to fit in your mouth. While "big" isn't the word people use most to describe these burgers, that's definitely plays a role in their brand. The beef is mixed with several herbs and spices that make Thurman burgers what they are. The taste is great and the combination of toppings of each type of burger makes the burger even greater.

Beyond the "fame" and history - I was there once when it was not busy.. service was terrible and toppings were canned. Good for what it is - a greasy spoon joint - although DEF over-rated. O'Reillys Pub in Clintonville has the best burger in town in my opinion.

Went to Thurmans for the first time while in town for business. I saw it on Man vs Food and really wanted to try it. I arrived on a Tuesday evening and waited about 1.5 hours to sit at the bar. The place was packed and the staff did there best to get everyone seated as fast as possible. I ordered the blue cheese burger and fried jalapeno bites and they were worth every bit of the wait. I would definitely recommend the wait.

I am torn on this rating. I would have given excellent, but due to the wait time I just couldn't do it. Do not go here if you don't want to wait at least an hour to be seated. My friend was very grumpy and almost made us leave after spending an hour and 15 minutes waiting. We were seated after an hour and a half. This was a Sunday evening at about 7:30 that we arrived. Then we waited about 10 minutes before having to stop someone to take our food and drink orders. Overall the food makes it worth it if you are in the mood to put up with the wait. I have heard they take pick-up orders so I would call and ask about that.

Burgers were very good... Not a place for children, I didn't realize it was a bar. We only had to wait for 10 minutes on the lunch hour. I would go again just would not take my daughter. The neighborhood was cute. I really wish we would have had time to walk around a little bit.

they have the best burgers ever! such a large burger but they are juicy and taste amazing! i would recommend this place to anyone wanting to have a great burger in Columbus! oh but make sure if you go on a weekend, that you your name on the waiting list 2 hours in advance lol they have so litle seats but a LOT of customers !!!

Great local dive, the issue here is the wait. Never less than hour unless you come at 10am or find that weird time between 2:30p-3:30p daily, weekends, forget about it. Good food, burgers are awesome, wings are huge, atmosphere is great. Baby friendly, not so much unless they are big enough to sit in a seat/bench on their own.

No doubt the biggest and the best burger that I have ever had. The only problem is the wait at about 1 hour but it is worth it as you as I say get the best burger you can ever have

So my friends took me to Thurman Cafe on a bet on whether I could take on the Thurmanator. It was the biggest burger I had ever seen. It took me some time but i finally finished it. The Atmosphere was very nice with a hole in the wall type feel. Definately a place ill try again. Not sure if ill go after the Thurmanator again though, its one of those things you say that you did it.
