If only we had listened! We decided to give the restaurant a try based on the idea of a great salad as previous reviews had claimed . It was less than anticipated but it was adequate and the best part of the meal. However, the actual meal was poor enough that we will not consider returning again. My husband did not even eat his catfish (truly the worst I have ever tasted). My chopped steak was dry as was my baked potato. The baked sweet potato and the roles get a thumbs up, but it was not enough to make up for for the $12+ per plate price. In addition, the service was even poor. They must have a clue the food is not good as the hostess who collected our plates saw the uneaten food but did not ask a word about our meals.
Me and my wife do not get to go out to eat a lot but we decided to go get a steak at Sahara Steakhouse. We get seated and order our meal and get a salad off the salad bar. We wait for over an hour for our food. Getting aggrevated so we decided to pay for salad and drinks and leave. Call later to complain but we were told our food was brought to us, very rudely I might add. We never got any food other than our salads. Manager Nancy Seamore hung up on my husband. So needless to say we won't be back. Will go where we can get better service!!!
Sahara Steak house has very comparable prices. Cheaper than Texas Roadhouse or Outback, with higher quality meat. Steaks are actually bigger than the ounce size listed in the menu. The waitresses are friendly and knowledgeable about steak, they can answer questions about the cuts, marbling, etc. Very efficient, but appropriate salad bar that comes free with any entree, and they have amazing vegetable soup. We have been 4 times and have loved it each time. Very good NY Strip.
We arrived about 4:30 pm. The food was excellent. The chicken, shrimp, hamburgers and steak were out of this world good. The sides were delicious and the salad bar was filled. My mother-in-law only had the salad bar and was happily stuffed when she left. All dishes were tasty, hot, and delivered in a timely manner. We were extremely happy with the prices even with 7 in our group(three kids). Everything was clean and well kept. If we vacation at Mammoth and Kentucky Down Under again, we will definitely go there again. Thanks for the wonderful food Sahara!
They were literally out of everything we asked for drinks and food. Only one miller lite bottle in the whole bar, no vodka except skohl *sp, I wanted a hamburger but they had no hamburger meat, had to pay 17 bucks for a steak that was okay, but really fatty. No nacho meat and no salsa on the nachos, had to ask for jalapenos (when we swore they had written on the menu that it included jalapenos) and the waitress argued with us about that. Do not suggest unless your willing to eat and/or drink whatever they happen to have laying around and pay alot for it.
Ok. So it was in 1990. But it's stuck with me for the last 16 years. I'm sure the place has changed, but boy-oh-boy what a memory. It was the most tender steak I ever had. Didn't really need a knife. It was exaclty what a weary traveler (staying at a nearby hotel) needed. A steak, a cocktail, and a quiet atmosphere. Sure it wasn't plush, but it suited my needs on that hungry, lonely night. If I ever pass that way again, I will stop in for a meal. I just hope it meets the needs of even half of my memory.
I am the first to say that I like to try new places when I go on vacation. We like to stay away from the food chains and try the local places. Well this place makes it hard to do it. First of all you walk in and it looked like construction was taking place all this ply wood not even painted. The food was over priced and the steak was 10 oz and 3 of it was fat. The salad bar was a joke and the famous veg. soup only had 4 veggies in it. They did have really good fried mushrooms and Onion rings but other than that it was not very clean or good.
