Definately THE BEST Irish pub in Louisville, and one of the best in the country. I travel quite a bit for work and one of my favorite things is visiting the various Irish pubs across this great country for dinner. Loving a fresh poured Guiness...it seems like a logical passtime to me. Anyway, not to digress....back to The Rover as we call her in the ville. The fish and chips are unparallelled, the Irish Whiskey Steak always excellent, and the pub grub, Scotch Eggs and the like are authentic and plenty. I highly recommend the Irish Rover to anyone searching for that genuine Irish Pub atmosphere and experience (although the Rover's service is actually better than most Pub's in Ireland proper). A friendly staff and a well poured Guiness tops off the things I love about the Irish Rover!
From the great sourdough or soda bread, through the excellent selections of beers, to the menu of traditional Irish favorites (the fish and chips are a must!), this restaurant/pub is a landmark. The Rover is like Lays potato chips... one visit ain't enough.
A warm atmosphere and great food and a reasonable price. What more could you want? The shepherd's pie is more then one person can eat but well worth the try! A wonderfully rich stew set inside a hearty sourdough bread bowl topped with home made mashed potatoes and cheese. It's perfect for fall and winter.
On certain nights, irish tunes can be heard in the bar along with fair amount of laughter and good conversation. All and all, it's a wonderful place to relax and be among friends.
