We were so disappointed with the food and service tonight. Previously, we had only gotten take out orders, mostly consisting of Po Boys, which were delicious. Tonight however, we dined in. Here's what transpired. A young waitress waited our table. My wife asked a couple of questions about the menu. Each time, the waitress had to go ask someone for the answer. Then, a young man replaced her. He took our order, but was obviously a non-trained waiter, just like the previous non-trained waitress... not waiter skills. We got out food. Mine was pretty good... oysters on the half shell and red beans and rice with sausage. However, my wife's Italian Baked Oysters were barely warm. Then, her entre, grilled red snapper, was undercooked, which neither she nor I could eat. Fortunately, the "waiter" did agree to substitute something else for. She requested crab cakes (which also turned out to be undercooked, and which neither she nor I could eat) and seafood gumbo, which was ok, but nothing special. The salads we had were barely passable, in fact tasted like they came out of a bag from the grocery store. I went to the restroom, only to have to make my way through this guy's tons of "bro's" and other kin that were "hanging around". I so wished to be somewhere else at that time. At no time did the waiter ever bring us crackers to go with out salads or oysters. I had to go get them myself. When my wife's re-order was brought, no silver was brought with it. I had to go get it myself. When I did, the waitress who gave it to me (not our waitress) whispered "Sorry about the service; I called the owner about it. The guy is supposed to be a cook, but all of a sudden he started trying to be a waiter." Finally, my wife was still hungry (after the undercooked red snapper she didn't eat and the undercooked crab cakes she didn't eat either), and ordered a ham and cheese po boy to go. After we paid the $55 bill and returned home 20 miles away, guess what??? No cheese on the ham and cheese po boy Listen folks, we like Good Time Deli and do not want to do anything to harm them. However, unless they improve the skills of their wait staff and cooks, they will go out of business, and I would really hate to see that. I hope the owner reads this and takes action, because if not, I'm afraid Good Time Deli will soon only be a memory. We certainly have no plans to visit Good Times again unless drastic changes are made.

Great New Orleans experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/6/07
The atmosphere is very French Quarter, pluse the wait staff and owner are about as friendly as you will find anywhere. Now to the food! I have never had a bad po boy or red beans and rice. The shrimps and oyster po boys are better than any I've experienced in New Orleans or at least on par with Uglishy's. Super value and wonderful food.

Proud their still doing it right

Long story short I got my first cooking job(washing dishes)at this place after I found a place in Jackson that could produce a po-boy that can stand up to any other. Everytime I go back to Jackson I make it a point that I eat my favorite sandwich the shrimp po-boy and a small gt-fry's which I can never finish due to the size. No po-boy shop in Jackson or MS can touch this place. Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler

Good Time Deli is Good Eats!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/27/05
If you're craving a shrimp or oyster po-boy made with that crusty New Orleans style bread and loaded to overflowing-Good Time is the spot. Be careful they are addictive!
