Nothing Elite about my visit. Steak was below average. Shrimp cocktail - below average, salad - not good, green beans - horrible. Baked potato was good. Service was slow but polite. Atmosphere is Aged

The food was disgusting and extremely overpriced! The seafood was frozen and PLEASE DO NOT ORDER THE CATFISH...They give one piece and charge you ten dollars...hated it!

Growing up on the same street with
By Mark M.L, 11/10/07
the Zaboukas family started my lifelong love of the "Elite". One of the favorite lunch-crowd destinations, so you better get there around 10:50-11:00, or you'll be standing in a waiting line that extends out onto the sidewalk, but always worth the wait. I've had just about everything on the menu and never had a bad meal. This is also my favorite place for a good-hot-home-cooked style breakfast. The best biscuits In the whole world! I'm working overseas right now, but when I come back to Jackson I will definately put the Elite on my agenda!

Comfort Food and Comfortable Family Dining
By Sundancer, 4/10/07
I must take exception to the reviewer who chose this forum to air a personal grievance against Toula and Chuck. I have been eating at this restaurant for over 50 years and have found that under their direction the restaurant is still in good hands and that the founders Mr. Pete and Mr. Jimmy Z can be proud. Toulas' smile and Chuck's attention to the customer with a sense of humor is refreshing and greatly appreciated. The reviewer of the restaurant needs to proofread and spellcheck his article before submitting such a less than intelligent review. That said, I must say that you will not find better food that that that can be found at The Elite. The Veal Cutlets, Enchiladas and rolls are the standard by which all similar entrees should be measured. The fresh fish prepared "Greek Style" is a signature dish that very few restaurants in the Jackson area can duplicate. In short, The Elite's Management team like their food is second to none and are great representatives for the dining establishments in Jackson and the State of Mississippi.

I like the food yall servie and the alsome rolles you all have yall have the best food that I have ever tasted and you have been opened for the last 60 something years and I love Mr.Peat and Mr.Jimmy and Ms.Voulas sweet self.......... The things that I dont like is Toula Odam she when she smiles you can tell that she has the fony smile on her fave all I wont is to eat a piece full meal without her smiling at me....... You can tell that she is un happy........ Chuck he thinks that he owns the place and that he runs the place and he has a smart attitude that I dont like it thats why I dont come in there until Mondays I know he is not there and that I can eat a piceful meal without toula being there and and chuck......... I like Gayle and Bobby they are sweet as they can be and gives me good service............ Rosa lights up my day my asking me so many queshtions and just being so happy............. I will be in there soon to eat me some food and enjoy my self like everyone else does and if they wont to improve anything get rid of that cashrester....... It makes yall look [poor and i know you have money $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ to get another one........... Thank you so much and for your time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Taste of Lower New York
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/24/07
The Elite is a taste of Lower New York in the heart of Jackson, MS. It is mediocre food...mediocre service...but a sense of "former glory" still permeates the wall. Give it a shot when you have a hunger for the "city".

Try the Snapper!
By infancyoftheworld, 1/16/07
I've loved the Elite since I was a little girl. I dined there while I was working in Jackson with friends and the wait for the popular tables was always worth it. The rolls are wonderful as is the bread pudding! The dressings are 'Greekly' wonderful! Now that I'm in Kentucky, my husband and I still like to drop in when we are in town and take our two children so that they can experience one of our favorite memories of Jackson. The brick walls and ferns add a cozy atmosphere and the smile behind the counter that asks you, 'How was your dinner?' is always pleasant. I recommend the Elite for anyone wanting something hardy and homey. This small town cozy restuarant in a big busy city is a great way to break up your day your friends and family!

Great local favorite
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/21/06
The Elite is a great place to eat in the middle of downtown Jackson. My family has been going there for years simply because the food is flavorful and simple with service that makes you feel at home.
