Two Sister's Kitchen

Description

Fine dining comes in many forms, and one of Jackson's homegrown opportunities can be found right downtown on Congress Street. Open during the week for lunch only, this handsome cafe offers hot down-home grub to both the upscale capital crowd and to more blue-collar types. Choose from a list of healthy and relatively standard sandwiches and soups, or go local with an order of fried green tomatoes. The sisters' reputation is well established in town, however, so it is a usually a good idea to go early in the lunch hour.

Whoever said that this place had good food has never been to Texas. Our grocery stores have better fried chicken . We were expecting a big bar, but instead found a small buffet bar. These good reviews must have been bought & paid for. The waitress, was75 going on 20, wig & all. She gets the desert for you & when it gets on her finger she just licks it off before serving the next person{GROSS}. The website said 12.50 & when we got there it was 15 if you ate just one pc. of fish. The place was falling down around our ears. How can the health department allow food to be sold in such a place? With uneven floors it was hard to walk. TWIN SISTERS RESTAURANT IS TOTTALLY DISGUSTING & I SPENT 60 BUCKS.ARRRGGG !!!!

I love Two Sisters! Their fried chicken, country fried steak, and rolls are the best. Although I don't care for the lack of space, their food is some of the best in the area so I continue to go back. As an added plus, you’re always greeted with a friendly smile. Right now it's $12.50 for the buffet and a drink. I’m giving Two Sisters 4 stars for lack of space and I prefer a different ambiance.

I grew up in Jackson but have lived elsewhere for almost 20 years now. I just so happened to be back there during Father's Day, and the family wanted to treat me to lunch, so my Mom suggested Two Sisters. I am STILL thinking about that place! I haven't found anyplace in TX that comes close. The food was terrific! It was definitely home-cooked style, not the pre-made type from a food service company. The country fried steak was so tender, I didn't even need a knife. Not only is it smothered in gravy, it's cooked in it too (that's why it's so tender). And there was plenty of white meat chicken on the buffet. There were plenty of vegetable offerings as well, so you're bound to find something you like. It gets a little crowded in the front room with the waitress stand and buffet line there, but hey, this is the South y'all, where folks are friendly so you don't mind standing shoulder-to-shoulder with them. So what if the place is in an old house - I prefer the genuine atmosphere over the stale, manufactured "character" you find in most eateries nowdays. I'm going back to Two Sisters every chance I get!

Everyone raves about the fried chicken at Two sisters, so I decided to give it a try. I'd say my experience was okay at best. The chicken was decent, but honestly, I've had better at Popeye's or KFC.

The food was great, but I find it strange that they have the buffet table right as you walk in the door.

One of the best
By Conrad H, 12/5/07
I lived in the Jackson area for 6 years, and this is one of the best restaurants in the Capitol City. The southern cuisine is spot-on.

Just good...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/19/07
The best food I have had in a while, and I'm going back...this Sunday!!! I'm so excited...the peach cobler is to die for. I'm not eating this whole weekend to make sure I have enough room! I don't agree with the first few reviews...The owner personally greeted my guest and I and contributed to the excellent dining experience that I had.

Great food, great people
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/3/07
Nothing like this little buffet line around! Good ol' down home cocking. If you you like good food like your granny made, give this place a try. Does get a little crowded and eating outside in Jackson in the summer is not recommended

Great Home Cooked Food
By mistyw, 4/5/07
This place has a wonderful home cooked buffet. Pretty crowded at lunch time during the week, as many downtown workers cram in. But if you are hungry for southern veggies, fried chicken and yummy desserts like bread pudding, then this is your place! The owners are very nice too! Great out door patio if you can stand the summer heat.

Great Eating!
By Willie, 2/19/07
The food is very good. Great choices and not too heavy. If you like buffet served in a great location, this is the place. You feel like you are eating at a great Home.
