Bravo Italian Restaurant & Bar

Description

BRAVO! has been chosen "Restaurant of the Year" for four years in a row by the Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau. For anyone who has had a power lunch or romantic dinner here, these culinary awards are not surprising. This restaurant brings together Italian and Southern ingredients in its unique dishes, such as the superb linguine with crawfish and andouille. The wood-oven-cooked pizzas are also a hit, and the meat-lover and vegetarian pizzas are favorites. An excellent wine list is offered, and wine tastings are hosted regularly. The small, cozy bar serves as a popular meeting place for singles.

Great wine list!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/20/09
I go to Bravo whenever I have a chance. The atmosphere is comfortable, but nice! Theyhave roomy booths, a quaint bar, and wonderful service. Always crowded, but they always find a table for you! The wine list is great, and the food is ALWAYS delicious.

Yum!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/23/08
Came here for a late dinner: a nice wine list, excellent pasta that they were able to make vegetarian, and my partner's pizza was great too. I appreciated the incorporation of a couple of Cajun-inspired flavors into the menu...a nice twist.

Make sure you notice it is north of I20 on I55, yahoo shows it south. The food is EXCELLENT! We had Bruschetta, Caesar salad (w/anchovies & make sure & add the goat cheese), filet port wine demi-glace, potato pavé(VERY tastey!), seasonal vegetables (cooked perfectly & presentation was very upscale), Ribeye, grilled to order and served with herbed compound butter, shallot mashed potatoes (very good!)and seasonal vegetables, Vanilla Creme Brulee with Caramelized Bananas, Chocolate Lovers Flourless Torte (I would suggest having it warmed & add vanilla ice cream on top instead of the whip cream, but keep the raspberry sauce on top). Coffee was also delicious! Also, price was very reasonable. Dress is casual. Service was good.

All style, no substance...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/25/07
This is, without question, the most overrated restaurant in the city. The ambience is good, the bar's nice, the experience is generally pretty good right up until it's time to eat - then it falls flat on it's face. The thing BRAVO does well is market itself; beyond that it's nothing more than "sound and fury, signifying nothing". This joint is all style, no substance which is actually a nice metaphor for the vacuous, N.E. Jackson, ole miss crowd it caters too.

Fantastic and Affordable
By Melissa, 5/16/07
It is not often you find an atmosphere like that of Bravo, good service and affordable dining! We have many nice places to eat in town but Bravo really caters to the needs of those dining with them. They are always willing to help you especially when you have a large party! Bravo to Bravo for such great service!

Food okay, service terrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/6/07
I have eaten at Bravo before, and it was fine. However, my husband and I went last Friday night. When we finally sat down, our waitress came 20 minutes later to give us some water. 30 minutes later she took our order, and after the food was brought out, she brought us some cold bread. I ordered the grilled tuna, which was the worst, least flavorful tuna steak I have ever had. By the way, Shapley's has a wonderful ahi tuna steak. Anyway, I had to ask another waiter to bring me some salt just so I could manage to eat my $25 entree that had no flavor. Admittedly, the presentation of the food was exceptional, but that can't make up for lack of flavor. I don't think I will be going back to Bravo for a while. I was aghast that I had to pay so much for such ridiculous "service."

Mississippi's Best
By Lisa, 8/27/06
Im my opinion, Bravo is Mississippi's best restaurant. It specializes in Italian cuisine, but many dishes on the menu do not have an Italian influence. If you want to try an Italian favorite, taste the lasagna. It will not disappoint you. Top quality ingredients (fresh tomatoes, high-quality mozerella cheese) make it the best lasagna I've ever had. The fish menu has a lot to offer. I've tried almost all the dishes, and each time the fish is cooked perfectly with an impressive presentation. And for something different, try the risotto of the night. I had a lobster tail and fresh asparagus risotto that was to die for!! Every time I dine at Bravo I secretly hope this is the risotto of the night. I've had many excellent meals here. The wine list is also one of the best in Mississippi, rivaled only by Oxford's City Grocery. Go to Bravo tonight. You'll love it!

The Cream of Culinary Creativity
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/20/06
The menu is Italian based but really is an expression of the esthetic sense of the executive chef. Well executed, with great attention paid to detail. The wine list is superb. A well-trained wait staff adds to the pleasure of dinning at this establishment. The ambience is interesting. Perhaps stimulating is an appropriate description. A trifle noisy to my taste, but in all other ways the premier restaurant of Jackson.
