I love , love love this place! I do find it odd that the two bad reviews both said to try Asahi( which is awful). I have eaten Sushi all over the world and the US and these guys hands down are the best. The wait is never long, the staff is very, very friendly and they try their best to remember regulars likes and dislikes. I have never ben disappointed. Miles above the rest!
I really have no clue as to why the rave reviews for sakura... unless you like lose rolls. Of course, I've eaten at some of the finer restaurants in Tampa, Orlando, etc. The true sushi pallet will not find this worth your money. However, I strongly recommend Asahi. They have a sushi bar & grill. They make some of the best spider rolls & volcano rolls. The only down is that I like a touch of wasabi between my rice and tuna/salmon when it comes to sushi. That is something I can do myself. :) Of course, I don't have Southern tastebuds, so go from there. ;)
the best sushi i've ever had. my favorite thing about Sakura is the wide variety of rolls and sauces that they put on the rolls. Many other sushi places only have about 8 rolls to choose from and they're pretty plain. Sakura on the other hand has probably 50+ options and they're all DELICIOUS and HUGE! the rolls are about 16 pieces and most cost between $8-12, which isn't bad for the size of these rolls.
The only thing I can't stand about Sakura is the service is usually crap. It always takes at least 30 mins to get my food, and they awkwardly will bring out one person's food and 20 mins later bring the other food, so you either are rudely eating in front of your starving friend or staring at your food while you wait for your friend's food to arrive. they don't refill your drink, and i don't know if they think that hispanic can pass for Japanese, but the servers are definitely not Japanese.
Make sure you bring exact change if you don't want to wait an hour after paying, they assume that if you give them a $20 bill on an $10 check that they are getting a $10 tip and will NEVER bring your change!
but, if you have plenty of time on your hands, this delicious sushi is worth the wait!
Sorry, guys. It's a bit overrated and stuffy. Every time I've been there, I've been ignored. I had to wait 20 minutes for chopsticks the last time I was there. If you aren't a regular, don't expect to be welcomed with open arms.
amazing sushi! Sakura has the best sushi in Tennessee. My favorites are the Alfredo roll, the Phoenix roll, Mexican roll and the Joyce roll. A relatively new roll, the Pickwick, is a combination of Alfredo and Mexican and definitely worth trying! Very reasonably priced and the service is great!
Trust me, I would not drive 1000 miles to any other restaurant...for true sushi-philes Sakura is pure heaven. Forget those fancy 'trendy' places that pop up and pretend to be sushi restaurants, this is the real deal. Not only are the portions huge but the quality is first-rate EVERY time! I've been to over 150 different sushi bars and Sakura just has that little something extra that sets it apart. Residents of Jackson, TN don't know how good they have it (or maybe they DO). The roll selection is unique, abundant and tasty. The nigiri salmon and tuna melt in your mouth and the cajun tuna is to die for. Try the ramen, it's a meal in itself. Owners Steve and Joyce provide only the finest and the service and presentation are great, too. Yes, Sakura is really 1000 miles from my front door and I would go twice a week if I could!
