Great experience! Excellent restaurant!
The exquisite taste, silky texture, and versatility of preparations explains why this restaurant is highly rated. A bite of this heavenly delicacy is a moment of pure enjoyment and culinary pleasure. Besides exceptional service, you will find a wide array of palate-tempting specialties to choose from the menu.
My husband and I had a wedding reception at this restaurant 2.5 years ago, and we go back there for different family occasions.
There is no detail omitted in a vist to Erling Jensen's. Everything is done in a friendly, first class manner. Service was timely and courteous. Food was fresh, well presented and flavorful. Menu was unique and interesting. The deserts were outstanding. EJ's is absolutely one of the top 3 restaurants in Memphis. The adventure is not inexpensive. With a moderate bottle of wine, the cost will be $125 per person with tax and tip.
Erling Jensen's rivals top restaurants of any major international city and is arguably the best restaurant in Memphis. What makes it so of course is the exquisite food prepared to perfection, but just as importantly, the professional service. You will not find amateur part-time-job-while-I-go-to-college servers here. The staff is only professionals that are seasoned veterans of the hospitality business, and as such understand that fine dining is not just about the food but the entire experience of dining out at a fine restaurant. This is the place to impress a client or a serious date worth the hefty (although justified) bill.
It was our first time to experience Erling Jensen's; even though it was just miles from our home off of Yates. We have enjoyed several fine eaterys, here and all over the
country, the food, service and ambiance here; practically in our own back yard were
above and beyond anything we have experienced !! Shame on us for not experiencing this sooner, we will be back again and again.

We live in the Los Angeles area, but on a recent trip to Memphis (October 2004) we found a jewel of a restaurant - Erling Jensen's. An upsupposing exterior gives way to a beautiful intimate interior.
From the maitre d' to all of the wait staff the service is superb.
Try their potato leek soup. Just the beginning of a great meal.
We will make this a must on future trips to the Memphis area.

It was our first evening in the city after arriving from a long flight on Nov.4, 2004. This was my first time to visit Memphis with my husband to attend our dear friends' wedding, Laila & Dominic Mondero, on Nov. 6, 2004. We wanted to dine at the best restaurant. So we made reservations at Erling Jensen's because it was highly recommended by many who have dined there. The warm-friendly and professional service impressed me from beginning to the end. We requested if the chef had a Tasting menu, which wasn't on the menu. The waiter was gracious enough to make arrangements for us and we had the most enjoyable 5 course meal that made us feel like Royalty! Each course was sized bigger than I expected. My favorite was the Foie Gras with raspberries and a sweet bread--! I had always wanted to try it and the taste was heavenly. I would dine there in an instant with my husband, next time I ever visit Memphis. Thank you Chef Jensen! You are by far, my favorite Chef!
