Description

The atmosphere at this diner-style cafe is so authentic that the place was used virtually unchanged in "The Firm", the Tom Cruise movie about a Memphis law firm. Bill Clinton is also fond of the Blues City Cafe. The decor is intentionally weathered, with corrugated iron and glass blocks. Diner-style seating offers a great view of the crowds on Beale. The best bet on the menu is that Memphis staplebarbeque. You can watch big slabs of ribs being turned on the grill while you drink a cold beer. The prices are slightly elevated because of the restaurant's historic location, but you can still eat for a reasonable price.

What real bar b que is

There was never a long wait. Ribs, to Catfish to even tamales, everybody got something. and the Slough szlough sauce on the side was the best. Can't wait to come back Love Eileen

Blues City hands down has the best ribs I have ever had in my life! When my husband and I approached it, I wanted to turn away because it really doesn't look that great, but we decided to eat there anyway and I am so glab! GREAT!! We have eaten there everytime we've gone to Memphis since. Don't let anyone talk you into eating anywhere else, this is the best!

So Good Gotta Go Back...

Me and a friend was here just last weekend, and now we have added it to our road trip in December. The atmosphere was fun and the food was delicious. I had the seafood gumbo, it was good. I also had the cajun shrimp the texas toast was awesome. My friend had the fried shrimp platter and said it was good also. FUn place and you feel like anyone could walk in. If you are in Memphis you must go...

Forget It! The appearance of the place may cause you to have your doubts, but start out with a half rack 0f ribs and some fried catfish, and you'll be b eliever! I consider myself a barbecue connoiseur, and in my mind, this place has the best ribs, hands down! I've had Carolina-Style, Kansas City, and this one takes the cake. Say hi to Tater Red and then make your way across the street for Memphis's Finest.

Fast food a bit too Fast

The service was fast a little too fast which meant the ribs and the rest of the meal were pre cooked . The ribs tasted fine but not a patch on Corky's or even BB King's.the music was great , but the toilets had not been cleaned at all that day --- put me off !

This place is a joke - only popular because it is on Beale St.

For some reason it seems all the restaurants on Beale St. decided that quality food is unimportant as long as there are lots of unsuspecting tourists and drunk people keeping them busy. Blues City is no exception. It is a dirty dirty place that smells like pinesol/BBQ/urine. I currently live in memphis and I am baffled by this restaurants popularity. I mean they even serve wine in a paper cup. Come on people have some standards. This is good drunk people BBQ and nothing more.

The Best Barbecue in Memphis

I can't believe the generous portion of ribs. The meatiest ribs ever. The waiter we had the first night was nice. The second time we had a lady who was not too friendly. But once again... she was very busy and that's the way it is in the big city. We were nice to her and she apprecitated that. The atmosphere is great here. This is real Memphis baby! Don't miss this one if you come to Memphis.

Gotta have the Ribs

I really enjoyed their ribs! Its a mom and pop lil restaurant that looks very southern. If you ask anyone where to go for traditional memphis food they will tell you about this place and to get the ribs! The restaurant workers will try and convince you that the ribs are the best in the country, and once you try them you will agree!

This place has the best gumbo and ribs in the world .. I can't wait to go back . I wish I could place an order online and have it shipped. I loved the live music also !!!!!!!!!!!!
