Description

A favorite on the Memphis dining scene, this local joint is the place to go for traditional Italian fare, such as spaghetti and meatballs, pizza and lasagna. The place is so authentic that you half expect a ninety-year-old Italian grandma to come out of the kitchen and give you a big kiss on the cheek. You can also order for steaks and seafood. A private dining room is available for bookings and carryout is also available. Reservations are recommended on the weekends.

I don't think so...

Pete and Sam's is about as Italian as Prego from the can. In fact, I think they server Prego from the can. Worst linguini w/ clam sauce I've ever had. For good Italian food in Memphis, try Grisanti's, Ciao Bella, or Villa Castrioti instead.

I pretty much enjoyed my experience @ Pete & Sams. It's a cozy friendly atmosphere so I felt right @ home. I had da Seafood sampler. & think everyone should visit at least once.

My favorite place for Memphis Italian Food

I always go here on my birthday. Eggplant Paulo rocks! The tiny pizzas are wonderful. Spinach pizza is my favorite. The waitstaff are usually great. The atmosphere is groovy. It's always packed so get there early. It's authentic Memphis food.

my favorite restaurant

it's nothing fancy, but the food is awesome! It and the drive-thru at Corky's (the one on Poplar) are the two places I go to every time i'm in Memphis. I love Pete & Sam's ravioli with meatballs and the baby pizzas -- both are heavenly. Those are the only things I've ever eaten there in the 20+ years I've been going there.

It is what it is!

Pete and Sam's is a Memphis institution. Even on a bad day it is a great value. You have to be a regular to fully appreciate Pete and Sam's, for it is a microcosm of old Memphis. Mr. Sam and Miss Vita are Memphis legends whose generosity is phenomenal, and the longtime servers (especially Mary) are pros. You'll never go wrong at Pete and Sam's.

Hardwork Pays off!

Everyone is so nice, both at the Appling and Park Ave location.You can tell it is family owned and they value their hardwork. I love the toasted raviolii's! I would book a party there no questions asked!

Good Italian

The place is steeped in tradition. The atmosphere is old-timey, no frills...like you would imagine in the 50's and 60's. The food is consistently great. The pizza, spaghetti, raviolis, and manicotti are my favorites. Oh yeah, don't forget the Miss Vita salad. and the steaks are great too!

good but smoke-filled

The food and service are excellent. I'd give it a 5, but it loses a star because there is no real non-smoking section. Don't go if you have asthma or can't stand smoke.
