Pete and Sam's
A favorite on the Memphis dining scene, this local joint is the place to go for traditional Italian fare, such as spaghetti and meatballs, pizza and lasagna. The place is so authentic that you half expect a ninety-year-old Italian grandma to come out of the kitchen and give you a big kiss on the cheek. You can also order for steaks and seafood. A private dining room is available for bookings and carryout is also available. Reservations are recommended on the weekends.
Man... I hate to say it, but I always thought my mother was the best Italian cook ever... she could warm up spaghetti-ohs! in a microwave like nobody's business.
Then I experienced Pete and Sams. Their food is EVERY BIT AS GOOD as Chef Boy-R-Dee, yes-sir-ee!
One of the best, if not THE best, seafood restaurant in Memphis. Cozy atmosphere with outstanding food. Great place to bring the family.
Try the tortoloni. Just talking about it makes my mouth water. The Italian spinich is good, too.
We love Pete and Sams. My husbands family has been going there for 30+ years and since I moved here 12 years ago, there aren't many weeks we miss. The pizza, spinach, and spaghetti are the best. I won't eat spaghetti anywhere but at Pete and Sam's.
This is a tough call as to whether to recomend Pete and Sams. On the one hand they have a very loyal following, on the other hand their food is no better than frozen food. The atmosphere is really neat but no the place for someone who is used to clean places. If someone you know goes there a lot and invites you go for the experience. If you are spending your own money and looking for a good tasting meal served by non smoking waiters dont.
Pete and Sam's is a Memphis establishment. The food is always the same and so are the people. I highly recomend the ravioli, hand made, yummy!!! While there look at the menu's from the 1960s. I love to take visitors and friends. Remembere to BYOB.
This once great restaurant has gone the way of all restaurants that are open just too long. The food has slipped terribly, and the service has been virtually non-existent over the last 2 years. Recently, my family and I waited 1 hour to place our order and another hour for the food to arrive. The order was cold and imcomplete. I've been eating in Pete & Sams for 40 years--sadly, I will never eat there again.
