Downtown Grill & Brewery
The Downtown Grill & Brewery is located on historic Gay Street, about one block north of the Tennessee Theatre. The Brewery has a rich history, told not only by its well-worn hardwood floors, but through its pictures of Knoxville gone by that dress the walls. With its copper and mahogany bar, tempting menu, and fine craft-brewed beers, itac2s a relaxing setting to explore Knoxvilleac2s flavorful past.
For only $6 I thought the seven sampler glasses of brew were great. I had the mesquite pork chop, I thought it came with one chop for $12. It turns out their were two chops. They could have been a little juicier but they were not bad by any stretch.
My wife and I enjoyed the place. Their imperial style stout is worth a tall glass.
Totally disappointed!!!! Was a huge fan of the place until I had a recent bad experience with a bartender that was not even my server and the manager refused to even give me the guy's name. He gave me Daniel Goss's business card and was totally not concerned with the situation. Not a professional place at all. Would not recommend it.
I am a Knoxville resident that wanted to take his wife out for a nice Sunday lunch. We went to the Downtown Grill and Brewery, and I have to tell you, the food was really good! The beer was fantastic, and the live jazz on this Sunday prompted me to pull out a fiver to tip the band. Great place, great service, wonderful atmosphere, and excellent beer await those that make the trip to this place
I visited the Downtown Grill & Brewery for the first time last night. I was very impressed with the menu, the prices and the excellent quality of the food! The steak has a flavor that is unique and is worth the drive itself. The service was great. Drinks were filled without having to ask, table cleared as needed. The staff really seem to enjoy their jobs. A pleasant atomosphere and an excellent meal is waiting. I will be going back soon.
The Downtown Grill offers a good time, with reasonable prices. The menu is loaded with great food choices, and there are over 100 items. The service could be improved, but is satisfactory. My only complaint is that the restaurant is too smoky, and non-smoking seats are upstairs (open to smoking area below).
This place is great. They have a great beer selection which is brewed onsight. It is located near the Old City. It has a great menu and the food is fantastic. On Fridays, they have happy hour from 5-8pm. Very nice atmosphere that reminds me of some places in Atlanta.
Is the fact that there is another good bar almost next door. You get move of a real downtown feel now. Between the hotel bar, Market Square, Old City and now Gay Street...Knoxville is almost a cool place to hang out. Not there yet...still a little on the College side of life. But for a 30 something there is a pulse starting to surge.
