I love this place. The food is awesome. They have good vegetarian selections. For some reason it reminds me of the tomato season at Kirby Cafe in Austin.

While there is usually a crowd, it is always worth the wait. In the 8 years that we have been eating here, we have never had a anything less than exellent food and great service. The menu offers many choices, but it seems like everyone I know usually gets "hooked" on 1 or 2 items. The salads are fresh, the breads are baked in-house and the pizzas are the best (The #14 with andouille sausage is my favorite). If you are visiting town, Tomato head should be on your "must do" list, if you live here and have not tried it; you are missing out on one of Knoxville's best.

Great pizza
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/24/08
Most of the food here is homemade and from organic products. I love that they offer not your average toppings (sun dried tomatoes, pesto, etc.) which make for a great meal!

Fantastic

I love visiting Tomato head. I have never had a bad meal there. The food is always exceptional and the staff friendly. Although they do get very busy it can be a wait to get in. The place is a bit small, but very much worth the wait.

great thin crust pizzas and hearty salads! soups are uninspired though. only complaint: where are the napkins/paper towels? i'm all for saving trees, but it shouldn't be impossible to find an extra napkin.

Get there early for a place to sit....it's small and cozy, so seating is limited. Wonderful food! The staff are friendly and helpful....you can order takeout inside, get something to drink and sit outside while you wait, they'll bring it to you. The pizza is soooooo good! Get it to go and enjoy when you get back to your room or home. Great job guys! See you next time!

Kind of an eclectic atmosphere with some unique options for pizza. The food is really good, the only "complaint" is that the restaurant is pretty small considering the crowds that the market square area can bring in.

THIS is good food in downtown Knoxville
Great selection, great prices, great food. Tomato Head offers a wide variety of choices - there is something for everyone, even vegans! The food is always fresh and delicious with a hearty but not overcoming flavor. I highly recommend this establishment.

I'm glad I decided to stay in Knoxville!
By Rob, 6/27/07
Passing through Knoxville on business and decided to stay the night. Decided to go for a walk to see the downtown, and found this great spot! Pizza # 14 was truly great. Nice glass of wine to compliment the food. I would have like to dine alfresco, but as it was a nice night, the tables were already full. The inside was also full, but plenty of space between tables gave the place a very comfortable feel. Service was good. Definitely worth the trip. I will certainly be back when in the area again.

I can't wait to go back with anyone!
By bambam, 1/21/06
For only going twice it's a wonderful place to go with that special someone or even a group of friends. The service was very friendly. The pizza is amazing, that is if you like thin crust with so many wonderful options! It's in the heart of downtown Knoxville with plenty of things to do within walking distance and it's set back from the street so it's quiet too. The location also has free local bands and movies playing during the nights/weekend (you'll have to check out the local listings for info). Enjoy!
