Moto Japanese Restaurant, Johnson City

I read other people's reviews and decided to give this place a try. I agree with most everyone else that the restaurant itself really needs to be updated. Once we were able to be seated we received our menu...this is when the disappointment started. They did not have big selection to say the least. I expected it to be a Japanese Restaurant in which they served a variety of Japanese food; however, this was not the case. They had only about 9-10 items to choose from. They did not have sushi or other common Japanese foods (i.e. Hibachi chicken). The onion soup they served tasted like water and chicken bouillon cube boiled together (No onions!). I ordered the salad with the ginger sauce and it was disgusting to say the least. The entree food we ordered (steak) was pretty good, not the best I ever had; therefore, I rated this place a 3 out of 5. The price was good, but I think you get what you pay for.

I lived in East TN for 8 years and recently moved near Atlanta, GA and have yet to have shrimp sause as good as Motto's! Every place I go their shrip sause is compared to Motto's and all fall short! I wished I had their recipe!

Hands down one of my favorite places to eat. The outside is inconspicuous and does not stand out, but the food is excellent. They would possibly benefit from a little landscaping, but the food has no room for improvement. After moving to Johnson City I was told of the place and fell in love. The sesame chicken is excellent, and the carrots and mushrooms are good as well. I can get extra rice and have lunch and dinner for one great price. I eat there about twice a week on average, and would encourage others to at least give it a shot.

THE BEST PLACE ever! I have to agree that the building does look a little rough and run down looking but the food is to die for! I know they get a lot of business so why don't the owners fix it up?! My husband and I always get the chicken...it's the best. Also their shrimp sauce is the best in East TN. I've tried many Japanese restaurants in the area and nothing compares with this place. LOVE IT! Go there!

I love the food at Moto's and everything that's on the menu is wonderful. We order from work at least 2-3 times a year and our orders are at least 20 people and we always get what we order and the food is in abundant portions. We only wish that we had a Moto's in Elizabethton!! Fantastic food!! Everyone needs to try Moto's food at least once and you will be hooked!

Despite the shady look on the outside (landscaping anyone? I believe this is an old wendy's) and the diner seating on the inside, the food is FANTASTIC. My boyfriend and I can't get enough of this place, and no one can beat the prices. Just don't go there looking for a great atmosphere. Delicious!

Moto is one of the best Japanese restaurant's I've eaten at. It is very casual, and very good prices, especially for lunch. In some locations you can call your order in and pick it up through the drive through window, very conveint. They don't cook in front of you, but you can see them cooking it.

Listen, there is nothing there I don't like. Good soup, good chicken, I bet if they put there ingredients on manure it would top most other restaurants.

The best Japanese food I've ever had. I love the food and the price is great. My mother loves it as well, we have to go every time she visits.
