I have been going to Misaki's since the early 90's. The food is always AWESOME! The soup brought out is spicy and delicious!!! The salad is always fresh and crisp. The teriyaki sauce that cooks with the food and the shrimp sauce for dipping or pouring over food is homemade by the chef. It is phenomenal! The inside could use a little updating, as it is starting to get that greasy truck-stop feel, but the food supersedes this. I have lived all over the the U.S. and still hit Misaki's when I go to visit the tri-cities. Totally worth waiting if they are busy. The gratuity charge is my only beef. I hate being charged for service, without knowing what kind of service I will get. Don't get me wrong, I love the food, but I have received poor service. Never from the chef. It was only once and I think they were short handed (possibly brought out the dishwasher!) I would like to tip whatever I see necessary, which is usually more than 15%.
Went there for lunch. It took way to long to be seated, and after we were seated, it took too long for them to even come greet us. They served hot soup, but we had nothing to drink along with it, not to mention it was way too salty. The portions were so small the my guest and I had to eat after we left, not to mention the quality of the food was sub par. To finish up the experience, we stood at the counter waiting to pay about as long as it took us to eat the entire meal. Also, they add 15% gratuity to EVERY check. It states this in tiny font at the bottom of the menu, which I happened to notice reading over the menu, and was confirmed on my bill. I wonder how many people double tip these people. But I guess when you add tip in to every check you don't have to worry about customer service.
This is one of those Japanese restaurants where they cook the food at your table. The chefs are very good and usually put on a little show. The food is excellent! And you receive large portions for very reasonable prices.
The only down side is that the ambiance is a little lacking. Also, not a great place for kids who don't like rice and vegetables. The children't menu is just smaller portions of the adult menu.
Overall, a great place to bring a date or a friend.
