Indeed.....all the bad reviews are true, unfortunately. :(
My wife and I decided to go try out this once grand restaurant here in J.C. so we went there on my birthday just a few weeks ago. It was a memorable experience....and not in a good way.
We started off with a spinach and crab dip appetizer. The dip was not particularly good, fair at best, with very bland tasting crab meat (from a can) sprinked on top. After that, each of us tried a steak....both the ribeye and filet were bland, totally devoid of any seasoning. A side of broccoli was described as coming with hollandaise sauce, but what came looked and tasted exactly like Cheez-whiz. Also, we found a thin stringly piece of plastic in our butter that we were given for the complimentary crackers and baked potato....very gross.
On the flipside, our waiter was personable, kind and was as helpful as he could be under the circumstances. It was obvious that he cared a lot about his job and was totally embarrased at the quality of the product they are forced to put out for customers. We were offered free desserts, but we declined, wondering if they too would be so awful.
Well, we satisfied our curiousity, to the tune of $60. We will never again go to this restaurant.....ever!
I must say I was tremendously impressed with this peerless in jc. The moment I walked in I was treated with total professionalism and kindness. The menu and wine list were an eclectic mix of entrees that rival most so called five star eateries. The portion sizes were to me worth the price. And last but certain not least our server Robert this young man should hold a clinic on how serve the public and how to create a most unforgetable dining experience. I will return to peerless. A friend and I had a good meal at Peerless tonight. We each had the seafood platter, which was delicious. The service was good as well.
It is unfortunate to read reviews obviously coming from people with an axe to grind (disgruntled former employees). The hostile review toward the resturant and the owner are not objective reviews. Reviews should be an objective rating of an establishment and should not be used to forward ones hidden agenda.
THE WORST SERVICE IN JOHNSON CITY!!!! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!! WE HAVE ORDERED TO GO FOOD FIVE TIMES THEY HAVE MESSED IT UP FIVE OUT OF FIVE TIMES.THEN SHE ASKED FOR A TIP.OK FOOD OVER PRICED AND THEY WILL NOT WAIT ON YOU AFTER 930PM.
My husband and I ordered food to go there this evening and this was the worst experience of my life!!! We are small business owners and believe that customer service should always be our main priority. Well this restaurant does not only serve bad food but the owners could care less whether or not the customers are pleased. I arrived to pick up our dinner, spent $60 and was on my way home. We order two filets, baked potatoes and greek salads. One filet was cooked properly as ordered and the other was supposed to be medium and was cooked medium well, one baked potato instead of two and the one we were given looked as if it had been cooked the day before. So I called to let them know, and decided to take the food back to restaurant for a refund by this time it is 9:00pm. When I arrived back there the owner lady (using term loosely) was at the front and I explained what we ordered and what we received and she informed me that they could not take the food back which was untouched and offered me a potato and told me that they did not do refunds because they would be losing money, very rudely I might add. I told her that I did not want her potato and ask what about my money, she said for me take the food back home and give to my dog!!! I was so upset and told her that my dog did not eat people food. She shoved the container of food to one of her employees and told her to throw away and walked off. I told that I hoped she was to sleep well and that we would not be back in that place ever again. We have been eating at this place for years and have defended it to many of our friends that have had bad experiences but never again! This was without a doubt the worst food and the worst behavior my a business owner I have ever experienced. Please do not waste your time and money on a business with food that is less than average and a owner that could care less if she has satisfied customers. Read reviews and you shall see that my review is shared by many.
This is the 3rd time I've eaten at Peerless- service good, but food not! I entertain clients and after another disappointing meal - I am moving my next Dinner with 9-10 clients to another restaurant. Several other guests made the same comments about the past 3 times they too had dined there.
