July 2009: Steaks are usually good, but someone needs to pry the black pepper shaker from the chef's hand. Everything, and I mean everything is covered in black pepper. Steamed zuchini - covered in pepper. Mashed potatoes - covered in pepper. Glass of water - ok that was pepper free. It'd be nice to have a flavor other than black pepper on the sides.
November 2011: J Alexander's has really stepped up its game. No more over-peppering for a start. Daily sides are really good, new appitizers are a hit, and the specials have been winners the last few times I've been. The prime rib is very good. Best of all, they have some new GREAT signature cocktails. The best of what I've had is the English Martini. Seriously, I moved my review from a 3 to a 5 based on the past few visits (Oct & Nov 2011).
