Tony's Pasta Shop & Trattoria

Description

A wondrously renovated carriage house provides the setting with outdoor terrace seating or indoor seating in the hardwood loft. Pastas and sumptuous sauces, including, sun-dried tomato & artichoke and smoked salmon cream, are made fresh daily. A tempting salad or a hearty robust soup du jour may begin the meal; or you may be content with the delicious loaf of bread that accompanies every meal along with the rosemary oil and parmesan.

My party of 9 arrived @ 5:30 pm and waited for over 50 minutes before being seated. We questioned the hostess several times about our wait and were assured they had us on the list. After waiting 50 minutes Tony's hostess ask if we would like to be seated @ different tables. By then we are willing to set anywhere. While being escorted in to be seated we see a table that would seat our party. Needless to say my experience was not very good at Tony's. The waiter was ok and the food was just pasta with tomato sauce poured over the top. Bottom line don't take a large party to tonys.

We had a horrible experience at this restaurant. We visited this restaurant because it was recommended by a few of the locals. When we walked in with our sleeping infant in his stroller we were told that it was their policy that we must leave our stroller and take our child out. We refused and they told us that they might be able to accomodate us at ONE table downstairs. We were finally seated and did not understand why there was an issue. There was plenty of room around the table for a stroller. Our waiter was nice and prompt with our food and drink order but we didn't see him again until my husband had to go find him to ask for our check. Forget drink refills. As for the food, it was mixed. My lasagna was not good, my husband's dish was good. It was the spagetti con crudo (spelling?). Don't know about desserts, we were never offered. As for the environment, if you like to feel like a three headed monkey at the zoo, then you would enjoy. We did not like all the stares and the eye rolling for having a sleeping infant in the room. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Awful! I've had better pasta out of a can. Food was cold and pasta was sticky. Loud and uncomfortable. A glass of wine costs as much as an entree. It took 40 minutes to get a cup of coffee. All it's got is the view. Will not go back.

Where to begin with this awful review? Mind you, I have given Tony's 4 chances to win my heart and now I officially claim that I will NEVER go back. First it was the L..O..N..G wait. I truly didn't mind the 1 1/2 hour wait (we did have 4 adults and 4 children). In fact, the wait was entertaining with a wonderful band out behind the restaurant. However, I was annoyed by the fact that there was NOBODY on either terrace when we were seated. I asked to be seated out on the terrace and the hostess commented that it would take longer to get a seat there. Really??? NOBODY was sitting out there...hmmm..just didn't make sense. Overlooking the hostess issues, there were serious service issues. The waiter didn't know what kind of soup was on the menu, he told us that he didn't "think" there were any specials...then he checked back after a LONG time after the appetizer arrived to make sure that I ordered the chicken ravioli. Obviously, he hadn't even put in the order. Everybody who arrived and were seated after us got their food, but ours didn't arrive. Sadly, our food did arrived before the 12 top that were seated long before us. It was incredibly uncomfortable devouring our food in front of those hungry faces. There were also so many other little gripes that I have with the waiters...but I'll leave those issues be. Another BIG concern was the fact that our waiter had the audacity to autmatically tip himself 18% after he provided us with horrible service. Having been a waitress myself, I understand they have the ability to do that if you have 8 or more guests. However, there were 4 adults, 2 toddlers, and 3 babies who cannot even yet eat solids. That's absurd! In sum, I recommend going elsewhere for a good meal. While the food is decent (not good, but decent), the service is treacherous. I noticed that other reviewers similarly complained of poor service but still offered Tony's a better rating. Take my advice and go elsewhere. Chattanooga surely has other restaurants that offer WAY better food and dining experience!

My wife and I went to Tony's after reading the reviews on yahoo. All the positive reviews here are absolutley accurate. This is a fabulous place to eat and we would definatley return. The nearby shops all close around five or six, which is a good time to traipse over to High street to Tony's. Be advised, the restaurant is half a block of high street, more or less behind Rembrandts Coffee shop--which is an excellent place to go get coffee while waiting for a table at Tony's. Our wait was 45 minutes, but some coffee and a short walk around the trndy block passed the time easily. Highly recommend this place, the best Italian food I've had since I lived in Italy.

My husband and I have been driving up to Chattanooga from Atlanta for several years now, and one of our favourite restaurants in the area has always been Tony's. -That is, until they did away w/ the Portabella Panini. That was our favourite, and while there are plenty of other wonderful dishes on the menu, the Portabella Panini was the main reason we drove over an hour to eat there. My other complaint is that I also noticed lately, there are MUCH, MUCH fewer grilled veggies on the Grilled Vegetable Salad than there used to be, yet the price isn't any lower. I'm not about to discourage others from going, but we probably will not return since they have removed our favourite item, and have begun to skimp on our 2nd favourite dish. I don't mean to seem negative, but I almost have to ask "What is next?" The pizza, the pasta, and the service are great -and I'm really going to miss those things, b/c I can find pizza, pasta, and good service anywhere -the Portabella Panini and the Grilled Vegetable Salad were our main reasons for driving so far.

MY HUSBAND AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED TONY'S, UNFORTUNATELY WE ONLY LEARNED OF IT ON OUR LAST NIGHT VISITING CHATTANOOGA. WE WERE THERE ON A THURSDAY NIGHT, AND HAD NO WAIT AT ALL. THE STAFF WERE SUPER FRIENDLY AND EFFICIENT. THE ANGEL HAIR PASTA WITH ALFREDO SAUCE WAS TO DIE FOR. MY HUSBAND HAD THE ANGEL HAIR PASTA WITH TOMATO BASIL SAUCE AND WAS EQUALLY IMPRESSED. THE BREAD WITH OLIVE OIL AND PARMASAN CHEESE WAS THE PERFECT PRELUDE TO THIS WONDERFUL MEAL. WE HAVE BEEN CRAVING THIS PASTA EVER SINCE WE'VE BEN HOME AND WE CAN NOT FIND ANY THAT COMPARE!!! TO COMPLETE THE EXPERIENCE VISIT REMBRANDT, THE COFFEE SHOP AND BAKERY ACROSS THE PARKING LOT IT IS DELISH AS WELL.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!!! The food is always excellent and we always have great service. I wish it were a bit bigger (it fills up QUICK) and they also need more restrooms, but other than that it is AWESOME!!!
