Bea's Restaurant

Description

Family-style dining and delicious home-cooked food makes this a great choice, but the price clenches the deal. Although the menu changes often you can find traditional American cuisine. Communal seating at big, round tables. The service is friendly and fast.

A lot of food for your money, but it's not very good. Fried chicken tops the list, but vegtables are overcooked and the mashed potatos are packaged.

Can't get enough
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/22/05
Just about each time I go there I will usually eat 15 pieces of chicken. When this chicken is cooked just right, it can't be beaten. I have eaten chicken all over America and this is the best that I know of. If there is any better I wish someone would tell me. The slaw and vegtables are always good. If you leave hungry, it will be your own fault.

Thanks Bea's!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/23/05
Bea's is one of the last great remaining Southern Family restaurants. This place is family owned and operated by generations of the same family. At 30 years old I am the third generation of my family to dine at this fine Southern establishment. I can assure you that as long as Bea's remains open every new generation of my family will continue to eat there on a regular basis. We live in Dalton, GA so when we make a trip to Bea's we have to drive an hour round trip but man is it worth every minute. Great Fried Chicken, Good Service, and the Best Peach Cobbler you've ever tasted! Thanks Bea's!

Wow just ate there today with my mom and sister and it was not at all a 5 star restaurant we went there after reading about them on foodnetwork.com and the reviews on here. I had no clue they were gonna put some random old guy at our table who didn't say a word to us. The food was not at all something to write home about. The Chicken wasn't even crispy but it was pretty juicy everything else was sub par. I would have rather ate at KFC or some other fast food joint. Only bright spot was the service. Overall this is not a place I would waste a vacation meal on.

Memorable but not great
By Michael, 4/2/07
When I visit a city I prefer to seek out places where the locals eat. I despise the ubiquitous chains and the tourist spots. Bea's is definitely the place where the locals come to for good down home food. It is located in an area of town where the tourists avoid. Probably a lot of locals avoid it too as it's located in a less than glamorous part of town. In fact, it's not even remotely near anything touristy in Chattanooga. Yet it's apparent the locals love it. We met a couple of ladies who dine here often. The place doesn't appear to have changed a lot in 50 years. The lazy susan family style set up makes Bea's really memorable. The food is good but not great. The fried chicken is definitely not the best I've had but its pretty good - nothing to complain about. The cole slaw is worth mentioning. Creamy and tasty - just as I like it. I would definitely recommend Bea's to anyone visiting Chattanooga.

What an awesome place! My husband and I went there from a brochure we found at the welcome center on RT59. WOW, it was fantastic. The food the ambiance and did I mention the food? Anyone that goes thru Chattanooga and doesn't stop here to eat, doesn't know what's good for them! We live in Florida and found out the trip from where we will be is about 9 hours...it will be worth 9 hours of riding to have it again! and again and again! Thank's Bea's for an awesome meal and evening!

My family and I stopped at Bea's this past Sunday. The food is still as good as I remember it the last time I ate there over 40 years ago. I have a 10 year old that says Bea's fried chicken is the best ever. All the food you can eat is brought right to your table and they never let it run out. Give Bea's in Chattanooga a try and you too will love it.
