Description

This fun and lively spot is perfect for entertaining friends or unwinding after work. With eight different brews in their vats at all times, you are sure to find a flavor and body to suit your taste here. From the light Sweet Magnolia to the stout and hearty Iron Horse Dark, you will find micro-brewed nirvana. Pints are $3-$5 depending on the brew. Should you get hungry from lifting all those mugs, there is a complete lunch and dinner menu that rivals any in town. Entrees range from simple burgers and sandwiches to the thick and juicy Drunken Rib-eye ($10.95), a 12-ounce rib-eye marinated in beer and served with veggies and a baked potato.

my family visited big river for a birthday celebration. it was terrible. we had horrible unapologetic service. we had to ask for napkins and silverware. our salads came out after 30 mins. of waiting only to be followed within a min. by our food. the way the tables were rearranged for our party made it awkward for us and other guests to eat comfortably. the staff seemed extremely apathetic and rude. it was not a happy experience. it was expensive for the quality of food that was served and the service sealed the deal. we will not be going back.

Average Food, Outstanding Beer

The food at Big River is only mediocre, and it's usually quite crowded during mealtimes, so the wait can be taxing. However, their house-brewed beers are terrific and are well worth the visit by themselves! The Vienna lager is wonderful, and they frequently have seasonal and holiday brews. They also have some of the better patio seating downtown, which makes for good people watching.

Cool place, poor service

I have been here twice for dinner and a few more times to drink and play pool. The beers are great and it's a cool place to play some pool but don't come here for dinner. Both times the service was extremely slow. Appetizers took half an hour. A friend at my table ordered ribs one time and our waiter took 20 minutes to tell us they are out of them. French fries were cold. Pizza was cold. My cheeseburger was overdone. Our waiter was friendly however, but the bottom line is this: Come here for beer and pool and watching the Braves but don't be surprised if your food is cold and serice is slow.

Great beer and food.

I am a local Chattanooga resident and I eat at The Big River Grille evry chance I get. Excellent beer and very good food. One of my sons who lives in Atlanta, insists on eating here whenever he's in town. For a tourist in Chattanooga there are many good resturants around the Riverfront area, but, you cannot go wrong by visiting The Big River Grille.

A Must Stop In Downtown Chattanooga

From the great tasting food to the full taste beer Chattanooga has a golden treat in the middle of our downtown! With great food and drink the Big River Grills biggest asset is there very freindly and polite staff.

Great spot!

We grew up in Chattanooga and moved to Ohio years ago. It is so exciting to come home and see all the improvements to Chattanooga. The Big River Grille is a great place to meet up with old friends and has a vast menu. It is in a perfect location for those wanting to explore downtown and the riverfront. Be sure and give it a try!

TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!

We were there for a cheerleading competition in Jan. 2006. The wait was 2 hours & the bar area had first come first serve. We asked a family if we could have their table when they had finished with their dinner. We politely waited for close to 1 hour until the lady came to let us know they were leaving. There was a man who argued with us, myself & my Grandmother,over the table along with the server! Needless to say we gave them the table & waited for the next one. We eventually got dinner & the steak was like rubber. Needless to say I ,& the other 7 people with me, will never return there.

We eat here every time we visit Chattanooga and we are always pleased. It's great for big families as well as a romantic dinner for two.

A real surprise

I was a little wary, figuring this was another tourist trap, but I was very pleasantly surprised. We did not have to wait long for a table and had a very attentive waiter. I wanted to try the beers but was unsure of which to order, so he brought me samples. I had a Cajun dish which was very good. Portion sizes were large and they had a nice children's menu. I would definitely go there again.
