Caesar's Bistro is a terrific, local, down-to-earth Italian spot right in the heart of Belle Meade. The pizza and pasta are both excellent, but the garlic bread alone makes the trip worthwhile. The atmosphere is more "Little Italy" than authentically Italian, but the kitschy art works with the great food and the amazing lunch buffet. If you're not up for the pizza or buffet, Caesar's has an impressive veal selection that is very reasonably priced and delicious. The Saltimbocca is about the best in town. - Lynn-nore Chittom
Looking for authentic Italian in Nashville has its challenges. Upon entering I heard the guy playing the guitar made to sound like a mandolin. I imagined myself on a footbridge in Venice even when he played the Rolling Stones. I steerd away from the lunch buffet and ordered the Veal Parm with Liguini off of the menu. (No way, He's playing DIO now! Still sounds Italian.) Anyway, very good entree. Tender veal, tasty sauce and garlic bread the size of New Jersey. Salad bar, while not the most visually appealing spread, appealed nicely to my stomach. Staff is more TN country rather than the countryside of Italy but friendly and timely. Says here on Yahoo something about being Romantic - a stretch perhaps. Overall, a good Americanized version of authentic Italian.
The best pizza in Nashville! The atmosphere is wonderful, especially if you can make it on a night with live music. The owner and chef, Caesar, personally greets all of his guests in his broken English and open arms and on occasion can be convinced to serenade his guests with an old Italian song. The entrees are great as well. The chicken Florentine with a nice bottle of Chianti is my recommendation, although I have yet to regret an order from the menu.
