Not impressed...
By Tom, 4/1/11
Like the previous person said I thinking they had bed bugs. After a few nights I was itching all night long. The rooms were small, the food was expensive, there was not a lot to do unless you want to spend every minute in the resort. I went to the Grand Old Opry and that was fun but there is nothing else to do in the surrounding area. There used to be a theme park in the area but the Gaylord turned it into a mall that is no longer running. I walked down to the Bass Pro Shop at the end of the mall parking lot but you have to walk on the roads to get there. No sidewalks and the mall parking lot has fences surrounding it. Really there is safe way to get there and having cars buzz by you isnt all that fun.

Stay AWAY!!!
By J, 3/30/11
Bed bugs! No joke this hotel is on the registry (check online). So after the first night I noticed my body was itching but didnt think too much about it. After night number two I started find out why I was itching. Staff initially didnt fess up but a customer service director (named Nickie) admitted the issue. I did some digging online and its already been reported. Outside of that I would have some of the same complaints as others. Its a HUGE nice looking hotel... but likes can be deceiving. My room appeared to have blood on the bathroom floor. I left a note for the maid and it was cleaned. My room was very small, but had the basics. Like a Flat panel LCD TV, a desk, and mediocre bed. You get internet and 2 bottles of water for a $16 daily fee which is optional but you need to op out ahead of time if you dont want it. There are a bunch of food choices. As for prices they are a bit high. Similar to airport costs or stadium costs. A slice of pizza and soda is $8.50. A burger, fries, and soda is $10. Sit down restrau\nts are around $20 for a single meal w/ soda. The hotel is so huge that you get lost looking at the details at first but after 2 days being stuck here you see trash piling up on tables etc. The area has little to offer. I was stuck choosing this hotel because I had a conference at the hotel. That and at a quick glance I seen a mall and the Grand Ole Opry. What I forgot was the there was a flood in 2010 that flooded the area. The mall management is suing the insurance company so all stores and the mall itself is CLOSED. The Opry is open and we did see a show, but there isnt really much to do in the surrounding area. Im a runner so I ran roughly a 10 mile circle in the surround area and there is virtually nothing else to do since the mall is closed. The concearge is helpful I bought my ticket for the grand ole opry from the hotel. They didnt charge a fee and he was helpful and nice. However there was a billing error and calling their "consider it done" help line, I had to escalate to Nickie the director I mentioned about. As of this point that issue isnt resolved and I doubt it will be, so it caps off an already bad expericance. My adivise is to stay downtown and travel to see the opry.

Not so much
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/11/11
Liked - the fact that the events associated with our group were all in one place and area travel wasn't necessary. Disliked - Our room was never cleaned, we had to wait to be able to get into our room, breakfast for 3 was $48.....really? for a breakfast buffet? Because there were not adequate trash receptacles, trash was stashed on tables, etc

Loved it
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/6/11
We have stayed at the Gaylord on several occasions. Love the hotel/resort. Yes it's expensive but what do you expect. It's lovey to walk around and look at. Romantic settings everywhere. Very relaxing with the sounds of the falls and fountains. You can leave to eat. Restaurants locally are reasonable, some very familiar a few different enough to make it an adventure. Staff friendly. If I had to complain we got some misinformation from a staff member. Not the hotels fault. Our room was spacious and quiet. Had a very good night sleep.

Nice....but
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/24/11
We've just returned from our 28th aniversary "weekend" stay and had a great time in the Nashville area. Opryland Hotel is an amazing place with all the gardens.....we spent several hours just walking through all the sections. Our room was very nice, updated with new everything including a 42" HD TV. However, be prepared for the hidden "costs"! It's $18 dollars to "self park" and $28 for valet parking, if you don't want to walk 200-300 yards. Also it cost us $27 for two mixed drinks at one of the several bars located around the grounds. There are several resturants located 'under roof" but again you will pay for any meals, breakfast costing us $52. It was a nice experience but we won't be going back anytime soon.

Sadly Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/7/11
I have been here for ten minutes and thus far I was bumped from my room because they gave it up. OK I got in at 10pm and there was nothing saying I would lose my room. So they put me in a room with a sofa sleeper!! I did not say a sofa sleeper in addition to I said a sofa sleeer....period!!! and is that is not enough. the sofa sleeper has a 3 inch mattress, no pillows and had no blanket. I am paying 100+ per night and I am getting a room worse than a motel 8. I wont even go into the fact that the internet connection is as fast as dial up and the front desk had nothing to say but we can bring you up pillows and a blanket. I will not return nor will I tell anyone to ever stay here I am sadly disappointed!!!!

Five star stay at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/10
My wife and I loved everything about our stay. The room was great with a wonderful view. We ask for a room with a view,no problem, we lost our Ice tickets, no problem. The package deal was a great deal, but they also gave us a teacher discount, that saved us fifty dollars. The light show was breath taking, and Ice was an extra treat included in our package. The management should be proud of the great NEW LOOK of the remodel job. You should go, and the Swifts will come back again and again. Thanks Garylord for the southern charm. The Swifts

stay if you like wasting money
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/25/10
i liked it best when i was leaving. this hotel makes it almost impossible to do anyhing outside the hotel. therefore you are forced to buy everything at hotel rates, including TV shows. i was amazed that you have to pay to watch tv that is free at flop motels. you cant even get a pizza delivered here. parking is expensive as hell. yes, you PAY to park here. what other hoetl charges a guest to park their car?
