I have eaten here about 4 times now and really have not been impressed. I don't like the fact that the sushi menu tells you very little about what all the rolls are. I don't want to spend $8 on a guess. And the actual structural integrity of the sushi is very poor. You can't even eat some of it with chopsticks without it falling apart. The rice has very little flavor as well.
The rest of the menu I feel is a bit pricey but you do get a nice show if you have enough people/there are enough people to warrant one of the big grills.
The atmosphere is less than compelling as well.
Overall, if I want sushi, oddly enough the Commisary on post has the best that I have had around here. And at a good price too, with all the ingredients listed.
Yamato is one of my favorite restaurants in the Clarksville area. I especially love eating there for lunch. I usually do lunch there at least once a week. The box lunch is so inexpensive... for only $5.95, you have a full plate of delicious food. I especially love the variety. On your plate you get a salad, your meat, fried rice, veggies, sushi, cucumber salad, and several other small appetizers. DELICIOUS!! Also, the service is usually very good and they are very family friendly and are always happy to do what they can to accommodate my toddler and 5 year old boys. I highly recommend this place.
Overall food is a good quailty and tasty. Sushi Is really good and their special rolls are worth it. However the multiple time I have been the service is gradually worsening. Sit at the booths you will be forgotten and go thirsty. Sit at the hibachi bars, you will get decent service to where an average person would tip but that 15% tip. At the sushi bar you are hard to ignore, waitresses hangout there and you get better service.
Overall food is good but waitress service is horrible. A couple hibachi chefs are really good. Its easy to spot them due to their spectacular showmanship.
My girlfriend introduced me to Yamato's several years ago and now I am hooked!! WE love to go for lunch because the price is reasonable for the amount of food you get and besides that it tastes sooooo good. I would go everyday if I could. Once in a while we will go for dinner because the kids love to watch them cook the food in front of us. Dinner is more pricey but it is worth every penny.
