Don t waste your money! We went for the AYCE buffet on a Friday night. We almost didn t stay when we saw the price was $25/person, but decided to go ahead because we had seen an ad that claimed they had been voted people s choice for 12 years. I don t know what people could possibly be voting for. The food was horrible. Many items on the buffet tasted like they had been sitting out quite a while. There was a lot of tasteless fried food. Sadly, the beat thing we had there was the soft serve ice cream. Please, please do not eat here. You will regret it. The one good thing I will say is the waitress was nice.
First off, I ve never writen a review in my life, but the vacationing community needs to know. Run! Run from this place or anyone that suggests this place! We are mid meal at this place waiting on the bill. Save yourself, it s too late for us. We are about to pay $25.00 per person, plus $5 extra for the crab legs. Rip off is not even in the ball park of how I feel, I feel such an injustice from this meal that at 37 years old this would be the only time I ve ever considered dine and dash . The only reason this place survives is the fact that so many people come and go in this area. Spread the word! Friends don t let friends do Hazel s. Stick to Bubba s seafood, cheaper, better service, no feeling of walet rapture.
Will never go back! They push you to their over priced buffet by telling you there is long wait time for anything on the menu. They say over stuffed po-boys on the menu but must have dropped most of it before it made it to the table. the only upside was the waitress was nice.
Was there for Seafood Buffet on a Friday night. Two different Orange Beach Booklets advertised that they had Crab Legs. They did not. Had to wait on most food because they didn't keep the buffet stocked. They only brought out 3 pieces of grilled fish at a time. Food was terrible. Even the boiled eggs on the salad bar was frozen. Another family came in and asked about Crab Legs and waiter said customers ate to many so they weren't putting them out any more. They left. The waitress didn't have time to check on her customers. I will never eat there again .
Food is fine but weekend prices way too high for breakfast buffet. For 2 persons the buffet cost $26 and if you tip the omelet guy and waitress you will spend almost $30 !! Contacted owner with my concerns but he did not see the problem. I asked if coffee could be included in price during the week why couldn't be on weekend? That question was not answered. My advise would be if you want to try it make sure you do during the week.
I grew up traveling to the Alabama beaches from Birmingham. Hazels, be it in Gulf Shores or Orange Beach has always been a family favorite! Their food is an instant reminder of our roots and what our beaches use to be like... lined with great seafood restaurants. The staff is always pleasant... the ambiance is always entertaining with tourists or locals keeping the place crowded!!! We went this month and had the chance to see a group of snow birds at a gathering... laughing and cutting up... then one broke into song!!!
There are certainly days at home for which I crave the Hazels breakfast bar... or better yet omelet station!!!! or Shrimp Po Boy! & Free Ice Cream....
On another note... my cousin was married there last September... during the midst of the oil spill... and Hazel's catered her wedding... the food was to die for... the oysters were still delicious... and as always the fried shrimp tops most of the other family restaurants we visit in the area.... If I were a local... I'd eat here at least once a week! Thanks Hazels Crew!!! See you guys in April! :)
Our second night at the Gulf Shores, we decided to try Hazel's. The sign out front said A.U.C.E Alaskan Crab. MMmmmm. That sold us. We had been looking for crab legs, all you can eat, since we arrived. We didn't want to pay $30 for two clusters.
We went to Hazel's around 5 p.m. The hostess was very friendly and very prompt to seat us.
Our waitress, a bit slow, but friendly and curteous.
We decided on the buffett, with the crab legs and steak. The steak was very well cooked and tasty. The crab legs were the best i've ever had. The spice was kicking and very pleasant. My husband tried several things from the buffett, Not me, I was strictly crab legs and steak. He commented he would have been disappointed to pay the price just for the buffett.
We tore it up! Very good dinning. The price was fair for the fare. It's not fine dinning, but very family friendly and good tasting food.
We would make a second trip to Hazel's!
Went by Hazel's last night. Had breakfast and lunch buffet recommended. Environment was much like a Shoney's buffet but not quite as nice. Hostess service was below average. Took a look at the buffet, looked OK, but not great. Decided to look elsewhere for dinner. Prices seemed high for this quality of buffet. Extra charge for Crab legs and steak on buffet. Probably won't try this again this week.
