The Pillars completely wowed us tonight. I only mentioned during a call for information that our reservation was for our anniversary and they were completely prepared when we got there. Quiet table in the back, and champagne with our desserts compliments of the chef. The food was FABULOUS! We highly recommend the crab cakes. For entrees we got the Blackened Duck breast and Grouper Pontchartrain. The duck was perfectly done, very tender and topped with a sweet pecan praline sauce and blue cheese. The grouper had large gulf shrimp, lump crab, and the most delectable mushrooms ever. For dessert we had Creme Brulee which also did not disappoint. Our waiter was very friendly and courteous. The house itself was nicely decorated. We highly highly recommend the Pillars for true first class food and we will definitely be making this a must have stop every time we visit Mobile.

Great evening out!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/10/08
My wife and I dined there last night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! The ambiance and service were great but the Maître d' was almost caricature-ish in his pretentiousness. We were well amused by it though. She had the Crawfish & Shrimp Napoleon and I had the 16oz rib eye (I know, pretty conservative). Her dish was nicely presented and was very, very good. The shrimp just melted in your mouth and the pastry and sauce were light and delicious. Not many shrimp and crawfish though. She also had the Sweet Potato w/Pecan Praline Sauce which was so delicious it could have served as dessert! My steak was perfectly cooked and just a natural delight. One of the best steaks I've had out in years. We wrapped it up by sharing the Pecan Praline Ice Cream Soufflé which was simply the best dessert I have ever put in my mouth. Decadent, I tell you. The only complaint is that we had Crab Rangoon as an appetizer and it was quite bland and overpowered by a strange burned taste. Just not good at all. Very minor issue though and erased by how good everything else was. The prices were not artificially high as in many places and were quite reasonable. 39 years old and a native Mobilian (now in Daphne) but I'd never visited there before. My mistake. We will no doubt return.

Beautiful but Unprepared
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/22/07
The place was very beautiful with a great romantic setting. As me and my girlfriend arrived on time, we caught them off guard. We definetly were a little dissapointed, but would definetly go back for back for a second time!

The Best Place to go when you want to be treated like royals.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/15/07
I liked everything this place had to offer. There is nothing bad that I can say about The Pillars. We really were treated as respected, and valued customers. I strongly recommend this restaurant to all of my friends and family members. If you are a very hard to please person (like myself),I guarantee you that you wont find anything bad to say about this restaurant, Because they do everything right!! This is definently the best restaurant in town!! GUARANTEED!!!!!

Best meals anywhere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/15/07
We've lived in San Francisco and Atlanta. My wife and I have been to France and Italy twice each. Our two meals at Pillars were the best anywhere. Brilliant chef/owner. Wonderful service and ambience. We will be returning to Mobile to experience Pillars again.

A lovely experience
By ThomasC, 7/22/06
Stopped there for first time on a visit to Mobile. Wonderful! Salmon Provencale was superb. Great atmosphere - an oldish house that's been tastefully maintained. Waiter was fun. Looking forward to going back and considering their VIP program which seems like a great way to enjoy a great dinner for two and a great lunch for two each month at a bargain price.

Best food in Alabama
By Shannon, 6/13/06
My husband and I recently visited The Pillars and were blown away by the food. I had the blackened salmon and he had the crawfish/shrimp napoleon..both excellent and beautiful presentations. The wine selection is excellent and the wait staff very attentive to your every need. We have eaten at all of the best places in Birmingham and feel The Pillars beats them all. We will definetly visit again.
