Casual dining..elegant food! Delicious grilled redfish and stuffed whitefish..fantastic view of harbor and boats..very nice and affordable!..Not to be confused with The Steamer..which is near the Hangout..The Steamer is good, but this is better..Gulf Shores Steamer and Grill is located at the San Roc Rey marina, near the Perdido Bay Bridge.
We've been here twice over the course of 2 yrs. Both times were really good experiences. Both times we were served by the same server - that's a good sign. Everything about this place is thumbs-up! The best dining experiences I've had in Orange Beach/Gulf Shores come from here. If you want a simple, uncomplicated meal and don't mind getting your hands (and face) a little messy this is the place. Be sure to try the potato salad.
Best steamed seafood in town by far! And it always has been consistantly great, which is so important. This is a family owned and operated place, run by long time local residents. They have REAL royal reds, not the imitation. I think they are the last ones in town who go the extra mile to get the real reds and you can taste the difference! I recommend this restaurant to all my friends and clients who vacation in the area, and they are always pleased!
Others may try to imitate, but there is only ONE Gulf Shores Steamer!
MY HUSBAND AND I CAME HERE TO GET AWAY FROM THE OVERPRICED BUSY ATMOSPHERE, AND WE FOUND IT WHEN WE CAME HERE. THE FOOD WAS GREAT, PORTIONS JUST RIGHT. I AM NOT A SEAFOOD LOVER AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THE MAUHI MAUHI.WE WILL DEFINATELY COME BACK. EVERYONE WAS SUPER FRIENDLY, AND ALL OF THE CUSTOMERS SEEMED TO ENJOY THEIR TIME THERE.
Ok, second day at the shores. It's raining, and we're looking for a good lunch. My husband is looking for a good po-boy. He loves trying things he's not tried before and he loves fresh seafood.
We had finally found parking, a block away! No problem, we thought, we'll just walk down and then shop in a few of the shopes loated next to the eatery.
We were seated and man, was it cold inside of the place. I was thinking that perhaps we should have set outside. The waiter took our drink order and must have seen how cold I was, he came back with our drinks an reported that he had also turned the air down. He said someone had knocked the air down to 50 degrees.
We scanned the menu and I, who usually don't stray from things I normally eat. So, I opted with the cob salad with chicken. My husband tho, decided on the red fish po-boy. The waiter said he made a good choice.
Our waiter was very attentive, the decor was accenting of a beach shack. The group beside us seemed very pleased with their order. I was a bit jealous that I didn't order the crab legs. The smelt yummy. But, it was only lunch and I wouldn't have been happy with only a few clusters.
Finally, our lunch arrived. It looked so good! My salad was perfectly porportioned and very appitizing. My husbands fish was excellant! He gave me a few bites and I would order that myself, now that I had tasted the fist. It was very good. My husband was very pleased!!!
Overall, the food was very tasty! The service very good and we enjoyed our visit. We would definately return again. Good Job!!
We ordered a steamed platter for six and everything was good except the refrigerated ice cold corn on the cob. If you are going to refrigerate the steamed corn and not re-heat it then call it refrigerators instead of steamers!
