Gulf Island Grill, Gulf Shores

We had been to this restaurant on 3 occasions with the past 2 experiences having bad service. After this last visit, we will not be back. We entered to have no hostess greet us - having to wait until someone noticed that we had come in to be seated. The restaurant only had about 5 tables filled and our service was terrible. Waiter bringing wrong drink orders and not completing our dinner order as asked. The food was less than desirable with crab claws being tough and crawfish being chewy. One couple even left after their drink order wasn't there in a reasonable time. Only good experience on this occasion was getting the brownie dessert to go! Couldn't wait to get out of there and will not be back. We didn't see a review card to be found near the door either.

I just got back from a trip to Orange Beach and we ate out every single night we were there and tried a different seafood place every night. We tried Gulf Island Grill based on the reviews I read here and elsewhere. Don't believe the hype. While the food here is certainly passable, you will find better seafood and better prices almost directly across the street at Sea-N-Suds and just west and north at Mikee's. The waiters and hostess looked like they couldn't care less and their service was the poorest we received. The food, again, was good enough, but nothing special and was more expensive than any other place we tried all week.

We liked everything. It ended up being an expensive lunch for 4 ($72.00) but it was an excellent meal. Our server was really good even though she was busy. The Key West platter was very good. The kids liked the shrimp po'boy & popcorn shrimp.

The waiter was very friendly. I got fried grouper which was very good and it came with french fries which were not the best. Amazing gumbo soup.

The ambiance was nice, and the service was excellent (with the exception of the hostess). The food was great. My sister ordered the ribeye and says it's the best steak she's ever had, and she has spent many years in the restaurant business. We had planned to go to another restaurant but chose this one instead. We recommend you add it to your list to try when you visit the area.

The food was fantastic and service wonderful. With a great view of the ocean this is a perfect place to eat when coming to Gulf Shores. It does not matter what you like they have it all!

We went to this restuarant after we couldn't get into LuLu's because of the the 2 hour wait. There was about a 30 minute wait at 9pm on a thursday. Once seated, I really appreiciated our waiter because he spoke loud enough for me to actually hear him (most waiters don't)! I ordered shrimp scampi. It was pretty average..I've had much better scampi. I like the atmosphere and the location by the beach.

The food here was really good. The ribs with mango barbecue sauce got excellent reviews. The fried oysters, fried shrimp, and fish also were well received.The grilled shrimp was also very good. We had a large party that didn't have to wait too long. It's hard to please everyone, but this restaurant did. We would definitely go back. Our waiter,Kevin, was very helpful and gave us excellent service.

i liked the fun family atomosphere and the great food... the service was great as well. they have very good desert , fried pineapple over ice cream

I loved the shrimp scampi! (And the Amaretto Orange Blossom frozen drink!) We just recently visited and stopped in for dinner and it was great! My six year old even loved it! My favorite thing about it was a drink that i had and am now hooked on! if you are an Amaretto lover (like me) then I recommend the Orange Blossom! You will love it. Have a great meal. Oh yeah, they have some cool shirts to choose from too! Mmm Mmm Good!(
