Gene and Ellens has that hometown vibe. It is a little drive-up place in a small town with homecooking. If you drive up, it may take a while to get your order. My suggestion is to call ahead. They do so much business that they turn their phone off at least 45 minutes to close so call plan to call early. The grilled fish is great! Burgers are good too.
My dining experiences was not impressive at all. I went on a Saturday night. I had to wait 20 minutes for my order to be completed. When I did get it my hamburger was cold and french fries were hot. I travel 40 miles to eat here because of a review I read in The Press Register. I was very disappointed.
It is one of three restaurants in the Grove Hill area. The other two are Bertille's and Burger King. Gene and Ellen's has great home cooked food at great prices. You want a real burger, check out Gene and Ellen's. They won't disappoint you.
