Hunt's is simply the best all around restuarant in Dothan. It is a homey atmosphere with good service great food, large servings, and reasonable prices . Some reviewer said it is a little expensive, but he probably thinks McDonalds is a 5 star restuarant !
Had eaten at Hunt's before and food was Great but drove from Pell City to eat there again and arrived at 1:03 PM and was told that they quit serving lunch at 1:00 PM and would not serve us lunch. The food is Great but make sure that you get there before 1:00 PM if you want to have lunch
It has the best food in town. The oysters are excellent. The staff is very friendly and ready to get what ever you want. I live in southern california but I always stop in at the restaurant before going back to my home. I grew up in Dothan, Alabama and always went there for oysters with my family. Hope comw by there this year
Short and sweet, best baked oysters for an appetizer and ribeye steak for the encore. Don't forget the ccccold beer and service is 2nd to none. I wouldn't think of going to or through Dothan without stopping! Thanks again
Hunts is a family owned restaurant for over 50 years. The atmosphere is very casual, mostly local folks. The staff is friendly and efficient.
I had the Angus Rib-Eye and Grilled Shrimp with one side and salad bar for $20.99. The steak was cooked correctly and was tasty and juicy. The shrimp had a flavorful grilled coating.
As a business traveler, it is nice to be able to find a good local establishment to have dinner and get away from the Longhorn's and Outback's occasionally.
I recommend Hunts for a quality meal at a decent price.
If you get to Dothan, there is only one place to visit, the rest is so,so. But when you shimmy up to the oyster bar and watch the talent of shucking oysters by the guys and they make sure that you get only wet and wild and salty of the best oysters make a 3/4 hour trip well worth the trip and visit. Some other folks who do not know may call it cracking oysters.....I thought you cracked nuts??????? Wished I had a Hunts Oyster shirt sent to Bham, Al. In the winter months around December/ January they get some Texas Oysters in and you need 2 to 3 crackers to hold them or they will fall into your lap and are sooooooooooo gooooooood, but normanly they are from Apalachicola Florida just down the road from PC florida. You can not find a better oyster bar south of the Canadian border or north of Orlando.... Up to a chalange??? email me at email@example.com....good eating, oh by the way they have great fried catfish, steaks and all kinds of fish....how bout my shirt....god bless. Jerry
If you want atmosphere, great service, spotless restaurant...this is NOT the place, but I have to admit, the food is UNMATCHED. Everytime we have guests in town, we take them to Hunt's and they have always left full and satisfied. Shrimp, oysters, ribs, steaks EVERYTHING is excellent.
