I am astonished anyone could come away from Jubilee without high praise for the service, cordiality, and great food. My husband and I were returning home from Sandestin, when we checked the GPS for restaurants not far from the interstate. We liked the name Jubilee, so did some investigating and decided to give it a try. We are so delighted we chanced it. We found the restaurant friendly, the atmosphere relaxed, and the food outstanding. We had their oysters Jubilee as an appetizer, a cup of their yummy gumbo, and the combination fried shrimp and oyster dinner. I would have liked a different choice of potato (they serve a generous portion of waffle fries), but the slaw was refreshingly light, not weighted down with mayo. Their prices are not out of line! We look forward to our next trip through Montgomery and will time it to coincide with dining at Jubilee.

Way over priced. When I pay that much for fish I expect to have some choice of my sides. The rice was good but cole slaw? I can get that at Capt D's. Atmosphere-none. The fish was good but not at that price.

Best in Alabama
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/4/09
The most outstanding seafood restaurant around. I tried the tiger shark since I never saw it on the menu at any other restaurants. It was delicious, amazing with a unique sauce with it. Next time I'm in the area I'm definitely coming back here.

EXCELLENT!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/30/07
When arriving in the parking log, you certainly would not think that the best seafood in town could be inside. You would be wrong! We love the crab cake (one is served with a huge amount of lump crabmeat) as an appetizer. We also get the crawfish ceasar salad...YUM! My favorite entree is the scallops. Each entree comes with their version of wild rice, cole slaw and a roll. Bring your money because it is expensive. Worth every penny!

disappointed in #1 rated restaurant
By lovestoshop, 10/8/07
My Husband & I tried this restaurant based on the #1 rating of it on this site. We were having a "date night" out of town without the kids. We were very disappointed in this restaurant. We had printed a map to the location - but still had difficulty finding it at night as it is poorly signed & does not face the street. It is defiantly a dump and made me wonder if it is clean as no attention is paid to appearance. We were given a copied piece of white paper as a menu. It contained very little information. Being first timers, we found it difficult to order as we did not know what was available. The waiter said 'once you've come, you know what to order' as an explanation for this. No drinks are listed at all. (alcoholic or nonalcoholic) I wanted a glass of wine & ask if there was a wine list. The waiter seemed almost insulted that I asked & said he could tell me what was available. He spat out quickly a list of something (?) & I was left still wondering what was available. The menu does not describe the entrees or tell what comes with as a side. Again, I seem to insult the waiter when I asked about the plates & the sides. He said there are absolutely no substitutes so it I guess it doesn't matter what comes on a plate as you either like it or not and are out of luck if it doesn't meet your approval. I guess they are depending on the waitstaff to supply all information, but with them being so busy and running from table to table with very little time spent at each, this is almost impossible. The food was good as most have stated, but I was 'stuck' with coleslaw (of which I'm not a big fan) and my portion of fish was tiny! The price is way too overpriced for what you get and for the fact that it is Far from fine dining.

Fresh seafood far away from salt water
By DrP, 7/7/07
I grew up in Florida. Real close to the Gulf and close to some first class seafood restaurants. There is some law, I guess, that states the farther you are from a large body of salt water, the closer you are to previously frozen seafood. Probably seafood frozen a year or two ago. Somehow Jubilee didn't get the memo on serving previously frozen, and probably transported on a freighter across the ocean, seafood. Their seafood is great and it tastes fresh. The decor isn't great and the place looks as though it may have been a bar long ago. This means that you will be waiting in some dingy hall as you wait to be seated. That reminds me, you will wait because the secret is out--Jubilee serves great seafood and is recommended.

Great Seafood and Southern Flair
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/16/07
There is no where else in Montgomery that serves better seafood than Jubilee! It's definately noisy and crowded, but always worth the wait. The greek shrimp is my favorite and my husband loves the fresh oysters on the half-shell.

A Montgomery treasure
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 4/15/07
My seat at the bar was both well served and entertaining. The freshly shucked Gulf oysters were top quality, the stone crabs fresh and sweet, and the bread pudding as good as it gets. Wait a little, enjoy a lot. Jubilee rules!

Best Seafood Ever
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/11/07
I lived 4 blocks from Jubilee for 20 years and ate there at least once a week. When I would spend vacations at the coast I would eat at Jubilee as soon as I got home. I now live at Lake Martin, where I don't miss Montgomery, but I do miss Jubilee.
