Simp McGhee's, Decatur

I am sad to say that Simp Mchgee is overpriced for the food. It was good, but not for what I had to pay. The atmosphere was okay and the service was good.

The food was terribly overpriced. Worst meal I have and had to pay extreme prices. Would never return. Atmosphere was decent, but service and food ruined the experience.

AMAZING food!!! The place is set in the middle of historic Decatur and has a great atmosphere. The food does take a while to come out, but once it gets there, you won't be sorry. I've never had a bad experience. The food can be kind of expensive, but believe me, you get what you pay for.

Great atmosphere in historic Bank Street area of downtown. The food is tasty. Can walk to the historic bank building. Great place for lunch. Great to take a leasure walk down Bank St and see the historic buildings still in buisiness

Simp Mcghees has unique food and a nice atmosphere. It is located downtown Decatur in an older building and is decorated nicely. The staff is very professional and I will go again.

We really enjoyed the ambiance and fine food at Simps. We are new to the area and have been seeking out fine dining experiences and found Simps to be and real find. the food was excellent, well presented and the wine list more than adequate. The service was fine but needed some requesting and wasn't proactive. Overall a great evening and we will be back.

Old pictures, newspapers, maps, realia and all kinds of memorabilia from earlier days of Decatur and the Tennessee River create an ambiance of indescribable delight, in both the restaurant and the bar area. And if you are seated on the first floor and are lucky enough to be served by Howard Townson, you will have a meal served with the greatest care and attention. Southern classic favorites are served both downstairs (where as of this writing smoking is still allowed), and upstairs which is a smoke free environment. On the stairway landing, you will pass a player piano and additional pictures and relics of by-gone days. By the way, Simp McGhee's story is told on the back of the menu. Try SimpMcghees once and you will, like we do, go back for a memorable dining experience every time you're in North Alabama.

This restaurant has great atmosphere for having a wonderful evening out. The food was excellent - I highly recommend it! A good choice for adults having a nice dinner. The stuffed mushroom caps are delicious & they are on the list of 100 things to eat in Alabama before you die!

Not only is the atmosphere GREAT, but the service & food are TOP of the line!! Somewhat pricy, but you DEFINITELY get every penny worth.
