Rather eat McDonalds
By A Yahoo Contributor, 8/29/06
The owners are about the only ones who can truly rave about this place. The food is below marginal, and to hear them claim it is the best seafood is pure bull - it is one of the worst in our opinion. We will not be going back. The service was efficient, but rude when we complained about undercooked food, almost like, how dare we complain? I would not recommend even trying them - do yourself a favor and stick with places that have been in business for years, or go to McDonalds..their Filet of Fish beats anything we had here.
We love to ski then stop for the best magaritas and chowder in NH! While carving some turns at Loon we rode the ski lift with big Dave and decided to head north of the notch to check out his unique restaurant. Located under the prominent Thayer Inn on Main Street, lovely Cindy (the real boss) greets you at the door and we began quenching ourselves with great magaritas in the cozy bar. The extensive number of ski area trail maps on the wall and the six shooter ski let you know that these guys love to hit the slopes. We opted to try a cup of their unique clam chowder which is served with large delicious soda crackers. This is the finest chowder prefectly seasoned and carefully crafted not to over cook the fresh cream and clams. It is so good go ahead and get the bowl. We then decided to share a scallop dish and a lobster roll. These also were absolutely delicious. The lobster roll was toasted nicely and the generous portion of lobster was lightly mixed with dressing. The scallops were baked with a maple glaze that melted in your mouth. We wish the owners well and hope that folks check out this alternative to the plethora of chain restaurants popping up next to the box stores in Littleton.
I really liked the cozy atmosphere. I went during the day for lunch and can't wait to go back for dinner. The oyster chowder special was just heavenly. What friendly people that run the place. This restaraunt was the highlight of my visit ot Littelton!
The food was unbelievable!! Visiting from the coast of Maine, we are used to the freshest seafood, and honestly don't expect to find it in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Crustaceans has amazing seafood, the margaritas are the best we've ever had, and the clam chowder is unbeatable. Nice, casual atmosphere, and friendly, timely service. The prices were also very reasonable. We'll be back whenever we're in Littleton!
