I tend to not believe bad reviews or experiences by others until I have actually experienced something for myself. In the case of Ruby Tuesday at Five Points, everyone were correct in their negative reviews. Ruby Tuesday at Five Points is perhaps the worst restaurant in Birmingham, AL. What was my experience you ask? I ate at the restaurant during a slow time of the day (3:00 pm). The restaurant had nice mahogany-like booths and a mix of modern/classic style for the interior decorations. The lighting was dim to suite a low-key atmosphere. However, those were the only positives attributes for the restaurant. The food was unacceptable in quality and quantity. Furthermore, the service was HORRIBLE.
Concerning the food, I ordered a shrimp pasta dish and received a portion that one could cover entirely with one hand. The shrimp was charred and was a bit cold. Concerning the service, I entered the restaurant and was seated immediately. However, it took 10 minutes before service arrived to take my drink and food order. Keep in mind, I came during a slow time of the day so there weren't many patrons to attend. The food took only 10 minutes to get to me, which was delivered by someone else besides my server. It took forever before I received a refill for my drink. In fact, I finished my food before the server ASKED if I needed a refill. I asked for the check and the server took 15 minutes to deliver the check. Yes, 15 minutes! Obviously, customers aren't valued by their staff.
Unless you like to eat small portions, nasty food, or feel like a unwanted and neglected customer, Ruby Tuesday at Five Points should be avoided at all costs. There are at least 10 other restaurants within the vicinity that would take mere seconds to walk to. It would be wise not to waste your money and more importantly your time at this substandard restaurant.
We use to love to go their because of the location, menu selections and dessert. We would leave other restaurants and go to Ruby Tuesday to get dessert. But the have cut the menu. The have taken away the desserts that made us come there. Now it is just an over priced burger joint where they want you to tip and the service is not that great. The parking is horrible too.
