The best restaurant in the world! Great fish, veal and steaks and anything Greek. Operated by the same family since 1907 and won the James Beard award last year. Ask for Nicky and tell him that Jim in Granbury, TX sent you. Nicky, my wife and I started first grade together and it's worth a drive from Granbury, TX just to have dinner. You will jnot be disappointed!

History but average...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/23/09
I know their is history behind this place but I really do not understand what is so great about it. I have been here many times, mainly when visiting my grandmother but no time ever stands out as exceptional. The food is good but nothing to rave about.

You get your money's worth here
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 3/29/06
We had an office party at Bright Star and the food was really good. The price made it even better. I've only eaten there at lunch so I don't know what the dinner prices are, but its a deal at lunchtime.

Traditional fare with superior service
By Max, 1/31/06
Lunch was busy and the service was still terrific! Bright Star's fare is more like Christmas dinner at your mom's... all the home cooking but kicked up to country club level. Fresh fish and seafood but much better than you could ever do at home. They are not afraid of real butter in cooking nor serving, which is wonderful! There is no way you'll be disappointed and if so, it's can't be their fault.

A local, state, and national culinary landmark
By Matthew, 9/14/05
The Bright Star, in addition to being the oldest restaurant in Alabama, also ranks up with others as being one of the best in town and in the nation. Upon entering the restaurant, you see just how steeped in history it is, from the famous faces fortunate to have eaten there adorning the walls. Everyone should pay a visit to this wonderful place, where you get some of the freshest seafood (I love the gumbo, fried oysters, and trout almondine) around in addition to many other excellent choices- like great steaks and vegetable choices. Also, the desert menu deserves mention. Bright Star has some of the best pies in town, and also New Orleans favorites Bannanas Foster and bread pudding. Well, I've written enough about one of our nation's best places-visit Bessemer, AL and see for yourself!

The Bright Star
By R, 11/25/04
Recently a friend and I visited the Bright Star and started with an appetizer of fried mushrooms to share and a mixed drink each. The appetizer was very large and all we could eat after sharing the mushrooms was a salad each. The atmosphere was wonderful, as was the food and service
