Bon Appetit Restaurant and Bar
The award winning Bon Appetit Restaurant is located next to the Yacht Harbor Inn and Suites across from Dunedin Marina. Since the late 1970?s, restaurant critics from around the country and abroad have agreed that Bon Appetit offers an outstanding menu. Guests enjoy the unobstructed waterfront views of the Intra coastal Waterway and Gulf of Mexico in a casual setting which is reflected in both the menu and relaxed atmosphere. A refreshing experience is dining alfresco at the terrace Marina Cafe as you watch the dolphins play while toasting the sunset. This landmark Dunedin Restaurant offers casual waterfront dining in a sophisticated setting, with crisp linen tablecloths and sparkling place settings and stunning waterfront views of St. Joseph Sound, Honeymoon and Caledesi Islands. Peter Kreuziger and Karl Riedl have owned and operated the restaurant for 30 years and look forward to maintaining the most special restaurant in the area for many years to come. Chef Stephen has created a new menu to showcase the excellent food served in our restaurant which will include bi-weekly seasonal menu additions to our normal menus. The Marina Cafe is a less formal, outdoor sidewalk cafe with the same phenomenal view and menu and also offers our special a la carte Sunday Brunch outdoors. Our restaurant is an excellent venue for Business Lunch. Let us know by reservation or when you come in that this is a business and need to be served as quickly as possible. We will inform your server and kitchen as such. The restaurant is home to our spectacular Crystal Ball Room and Sunset Room where we feature special buffets for holiday seating at Christmas, New Years, Valentine?s Day, Easter and Mother?s Day. We also specialize in weddings, anniversary parties and banquets of up to 200 with a view that will be remembered a lifetime. We have a pianist in our lounge on Wednesday through Sunday for your listening enjoyment and you are welcome to enjoy lunch or dinner at the bar in the lounge. We look forward to welcoming you!
The restaurant setting is beautiful. The service is good every time I had dinner there. The food is usually good with nice, pleasing presentation. I understand they serve breakfast now and I have yet to go. I do not live in the area, but I try to add to my dining pleasure when in town. The restaurant has been in business a very long time.
Bon Appetit, located at 150 Marina Plaza in Dunedin, FL, was a chance dining experience for our party of four during the winter of 2011. We were returning from Tarpon Springs and stopped here for a light supper, as we had been, as said, to T.S. where eating is not unexpected.
Bon Appetit is physically attached to a motel that appeared to be fancier than the usual cast of characters. The dining room is nicely set with cloth table coverings and better than average place settings. The large picture windows afford a nice view of the water and, if you're in time, a nice sunset.
Each of us ordered something different, but on the light side. We were all pleased with our choices: Brie with fruit, salmon cakes, chicken sandwich, and a half order of pasta jambalia. Some of these were ordered from the starters part of the menu. There were no drinks ordered other than water, so our bill was only about $46 including tax.
All of our group were pleased with our experience here and therefore I am giving a four-star rating, partly because I did not really have a chance to judge the full experience of a complete meal. All of our orders were very nicely presented and pleasing. Service was better than average, and the ambiance was excellent.
Parking is available, credit cards are accepted, and the place is well kept and clean. I hope to return to Bon Appetit for the full experience another time.
After reading the very poor reviews here on Yahoo Local, I am pleased to say that my experience was far better, though I was not there for a catered event.
DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING AT HONEYMOON ISLAND OR RECEPTION AT BON APPETIT!!!
I was recently married out at Honeymoon Island (Bon Appetit Restaurant handles the wedding setups as well). The sand was rocky and horrible, the setup was pathetic with only 25 chairs, a couple plants, and an arch for $1,000!!! It didn't even come with an officiate - we had to provide our own and we are from out of state!
We decided to do the wedding reception at the Bon Appetit - the wedding planner recommended this and we agreed because of its location. Little did we know this was the same company and were in alliance together. Food was horrible, the location within the restaurant didn't even face the water!
I do not recommend either of these to anyone interested in a pleasant evening!
I decided to take my in laws for dinner to Bon Appetit after hearing praises about the restaurant from many residents in the area including my in laws. Being traditionally skeptical about Florida dinning establishments I was not disappointed. The food in general was in line with some of the dinners back home in NYC at about twice the cost. Everything from appetizers to the main course was at best pedestrian. based on some of the reviews and my mother in law suggestion I had the rack of lamb. First, a rack is far stretch from the truth, especially since our waiter informed me that they were double cut. Well, I can purchase better chops at COSTCO and they would be double cut. The sauce accompanying the chops tasted strangely familiar. I quickly realized my familiarity. I have prepared the same gravy for my daughter for her mash potatoes (on those days when I felt lazy) out of a Mc Cormic beef gravy bag. My wife's grouper was not prepared as she has instructed. Our server insisted that it was grilled when it was obviously pan seared and finished in the oven. He further insisted when confronted that it was grilled hence the grill marks. The grill marks that he insisted were on the fish were actually crisping marks from the pan. Being from NYC I think I know the difference. if Bon Appetit is the best that is available in Clearwater stay away and save your money and go to the Red Lobster you will get more value for your money.
